Drilling Activity Summary
Description
Union Jack Oil has announced an update on the extended well test on the Kirkham Abbey formation at the #2-A West Newton appraisal well in PEDL183 in East Yorkshire. During completion and testing, Union Jack found that Kirkham Abbey, which was previously expected to be principally a gas discovery with a reservoir containing a 20-m gas column, is overlying a 45-m liquid hydrocarbon column. Gas flowed to the surface during the test but the operator did not have the equipment to recover reservoir fluids and the oil zone was not fully evaluated during the initial phase of testing. The operator plans to install new tubing and bottomhole pump assembly with a pumping well head to recover load fluid and direct any recovery though the test unit and incinerator. The well will be monitored for inflow and, following another extended well test, will be shut-in and suspended. Union Jack is seeking permits to drill two additional wells, #1-B West Newton and #2-B West Newton and will also test Kirkham Abbey formation and the possible presence of the Cadeby formation. Estimates for the discovery range from 146.4 MMbbl to 283 MMbbl of oil-in-place and 211 to 266 Bcf of gas-in-place
