The Woodlands, Texas-based Anadarko Petroleum Corp. encountered 120 ft of net oil pay at its first well drilled on the Constellation project. The #3SS OCS G25174 is in Green Canyon Block 627. The total depth was not disclosed and it was drilled in 4,400 ft of water. According to IHS Markit, the discovery is the first well drilled by Anadarko in the area. Nearby exploratory tests were drilled by BP Plc on Block 627 and the surrounding tracts were known as the Hopkins development. In 2016, BP’s #2 (ST) OCS G25174 was drilled to an unreported depth, with previous sidetracks drilled at the site to unreported depths in 2014.
