Halliburton’s ReFlexRite re-entry multilateral system is used to add additional lateral branches to existing single horizontal wells. The new lateral branches are completed with the ReFlexRite TAML Level 5 junction system while maintaining production from the original well bore. The system can carry more than 16,000 ft (5,000 m) of sand screens hung below the flexible junction.
The system provides a large diameter for flow through the junction, a positive seal for sand

Main features of the system in 10 3/4-in. casing in existing wells are:
• A 10 3/4-in. multilateral (ML) packer installed in the existing 10 3/4-in. liner to provide permanent depth and orientation reference for all multilateral junction-related operations.
• A sealing arrangement run below the ML packer.
• A 10 3/4-in. window bushing that locks into the top of the 10 3/4-in.
ML packer. The window bushing reduces the casing size to an equivalent 9 5/8-in. ID, 53.5 lb/ft weight in order to use existing equipment for milling and subsequent operations.
• A latch system for equipment set in the window bushing, combining the standard latch system (lock and depth reference) and an orienting muleshoe arrangement (alignment).
• A 9 5/8-in. ReFlexRite milling system, installed in the 10 3/4-in. window bushing, to mill an initial controlled geometry first pass window.
• A 9 5/8-in. drilling whipstock for opening up the 1st pass window to 8 1/2-in. full gauge.
