Sercel’s deployment of the DSU3-428, an integrated digital sensor system for accurate, higher resolution data based on MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Sensor) technology, has led to the high-quality completion of a 3-D/3-C seismic project.
Both the oil company client, Ecopetrol, and the seismic contractor, Compania Latinoamerican S.A. (CGL), were pleased by the smooth completion of the project ahead of schedule.
The high-resolution Tenerife survey, located in eastern Colombia near the city of Bucarramanga, called for a dense array of receiver points, and CGL deployed a Sercel 428XL system equipped with 4,200 DSU3s in order to meet its client’s specifications. With a number of conventional 428XL acquisition systems already in its equipment inventory, CGL personnel were very enthusiastic about their new system purchase. With the addition of both the DSU3 and the DSU3-BV, a marsh version of the product, to the company’s equipment pool, it is looking forward to being able to meet the fast-growing demand for the product in Colombia.
Juan Carolos Pineda, Operations Manager for CGL, said, “Thanks to the operational efficiency provided by the DSU3-428 system, our first experience with this digital sensor system was a great success. The ease of layout, quick deployment, and low power consumption ensured that we easily completed the project ahead of schedule with no problems.”
Pascal Rouiller, CEO of Sercel, said, “I am delighted that we were able to assist CGL in meeting its system requirements and finishing its first three-component acquisition project in good time.”
