A new downhole tool developed by Star Oil Tools Inc. provides downhole pressure that helps give wireline and coiled tubing advantages of tools conveyed into the well bore by traditional drill strings.
The Downhole Force Generator allows an operator to set, retrieve, shift, position and space

By changing attachments at the bottom of the Downhole Force Generator, the operator can perform a variety of additional operations.
The new tool is balanced to wellbore pressure and operates in temperatures to 346ºF (175º C). It exerts the same amount of force in pulling and in pushing and in vertical or horizontal sections of the well, and it’s controlled at the surface by software on a laptop computer.
The amount of downhole force depends on the size of the tool used. Tools range from 111¼16-in. outside diameter with a force of 15,000 lb-ft to 23¼4-in. outside diameter with a force up to 75,000 lb-ft.
Among uses, the wireline electro-mechanical setting tool can set bridge plugs, cement retainers, production packers patches, thermal equipment and through-tubing bridge plugs.
The Starstoker wireline electro-mechanical retrieving tool can retrieve a fish in the well bore without exerting load on the wireline. The tool wedges itself in the well bore and applies force within the tool.
The wireline electro-mechanical position measuring tool can determine or verify the exact position or spacing of downhole sleeves, valves or chokes.
The coiled tubing downhole force generator can apply force at the end of the coiled tubing string without loading the string. At the same time, it allows flow through the tool.
