Bonanza Creek Energy Inc. has rebranded as Citivas Resources Inc. following the recent closing of its merger with Extraction Oil & Gas Inc. and subsequent acquisition of Crestone Peak Resources. Upon closing, Citivas became the largest pure-play energy producer in Colorado’s Denver-Julesburg Basin, operating across more than half a million net acres with the enterprise value of $4.5 billion. Cairn Energy Plc will change its name to Capricorn Energy Plc, effective Dec. 13. The new name reflects continuity and evolution, as the majority of Cairn’s subsidiaries have been known as Capricorn for some time.
Southwestern Energy Co. has acquired GEP Haynesville LLC in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at $1.85 billion. The third largest private Haynesville operator, GEP is a joint venture between GeoSouthern Energy and Blackstone Inc.’s credit arm. The transaction further expands Southwestern’s exposure to the LNG corridor and growing demand centers along the U.S. Gulf Coast. Read more here.
Continental Resources has entered the Permian Basin after acquiring Pioneer Natural Resources Co.’s Delaware Basin assets. Pioneer’s position covers approximately 92,000 net acres with net production of approximately 50,000 boe/d, complementing Continental’s existing deep inventory portfolio in the Bakken, Oklahoma and the Powder River Basin.
