The module’s sensor uses a geometrical arrangement to minimize temperature and pressure effects and, with its dual resonance modes, directly computes density from the resonator-fluid interaction at a one-second frequency. The sensor also features zero dead volume with a repeatable accuracy within ±0.012 g/cu cm over a range of densities from 0.05 g/cu cm to 1.20 g/cu cm, with resolution of 0.001 g/cu cm.
The InSitu Density measurement complements other DFA sensors by providing more precise downhole fluid identification in real-time helping operators identify reservoir compartmentalization. In addition to important advantages over surface measurements the company’s new module also provides accurate fluid gradients, thin-bed analysis, as well as accurate definition of transition zones, improved fluid modeling and compositional grading with the reservoir column. The measurement also enhances estimation of liquid production in gas reservoirs.
