Schlumberger today announced the acquisition of Insensys Oil & Gas Ltd., a UK-based pioneer in the provision of non-intrusive fiber-optic measurements for application in the integrity surveillance of subsea production systems. Insensys Oil & Gas is based in Southampton, U.K., and has 16 employees.
"Insensys Oil & Gas fiber-optic technology provides Schlumberger with an exciting entry into a market where customers are actively seeking measurements and information to provide integrity assurance in the deeper subsea environments now being developed," said Pascal Panetta, vice president, Schlumberger Subsea.
Through this acquisition, existing Schlumberger fiber-optic measurements and subsurface surveillance domain knowledge will be integrated with Insensys Oil & Gas non-intrusive fiber-optic subsea integrity surveillance solutions to create unique product offerings that will provide customers with the integrity assurance capability that reduces technical risk in deepwater subsea developments.
"This is a significant step for our employees and customers," said Lenny Sutherland, chief executive officer, Insensys Oil & Gas Ltd. "As part of the subsea surveillance group, our measurements and sensor technology can be further advanced to provide robust subsea technical integrity surveillance systems."
