Basic Energy Services Inc., Midland, Texas, (NYSE: BAS) plans to acquire Midland-based Sledge Drilling Holding Corp. for approximately $51 million, including $10 million in Basic shares and repayment of Sledge's outstanding debt. Sledge operates six medium-depth drilling rigs in the Permian Basin of West Texas and eastern New Mexico.
