Black Stone Minerals LP recently added Carrie P. Clark to the company’s executive team to oversee Black Stone’s land and land administration groups.
Clark has over over 20 years of land and legal experience, most recently as executive vice president and chief administrative officer of University Lands, a company within the University of Texas System that manages over 2 million acres of surface and mineral interests in West Texas. Effective Aug. 2, she will join Black Stone as senior vice president of land and legal, according to a company release.
Based in Houston, Black Stone Minerals is one of the largest owners of oil and natural gas mineral interests in the U.S. The company owns mineral interests and royalty interests in 41 states.
In the release on June 30, Thomas L. Carter Jr., Black Stone’s chairman and CEO, commented that the company expects Clark’s “acumen in leading teams” will further strengthen its land and land administration groups.
“We’re very excited to welcome Carrie to Black Stone,” Carter said. “She brings significant strategic and practical experience, which will be invaluable as we continue to focus on development of our asset base to return maximum value to our unitholders.”
Following Clark’s appointment, Black Stone noted that Steve Putman will continue in his current role as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary.
Prior to joining University Lands, Clark was deputy general counsel at Talos Energy where she headed land and, before that, she served as vice president of land and legal at EnerVest Operating LLC, a private operator where she oversaw land and legal and managed A&D. She began her career in land and legal roles at Shell Oil Co. and a Texas-based electric cooperative.
Clark also currently serves on the board of directors of Brigham Minerals Corp. but is planning to step down from that position in connection with her appointment at Black Stone, the release said.
