The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is seeking feedback about oil and gas activities in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM) so it can prepare the environmental impact statement (EIS) for the proposed five-year leasing program, BOEM announced Oct. 12.
BOEM will hold virtual public meetings on Oct. 17 and Oct. 19 to explain the environmental review process, answer questions and gather comments about the potential impacts of oil and gas activities on the outer continental shelf (OCS) of the GoM.
The bureau said it is seeking input that will help identify significant issues and potential alternatives for consideration in the EIS. BOEM will use the analysis to determine whether a conventional energy lease sale may be held and will also inform decisions for site and activity-specific oil- and gas-related activity approvals.
The virtual meetings are scheduled for Oct. 17 at 6:00 p.m. CDT (click here to register) and Oct. 19 at 1:00 p.m. CDT (click here to register).
