Two months after producing its first LNG, Cheniere Energy’s Corpus Christi Stage 3 has sent its first cargo, the company announced Feb. 20.
“I’m pleased to share that this week we completed production of our first full cargo of LNG from the Stage 3 project,” said Jack Fusco, Cheniere president and CEO, during the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call.
Cheniere first produced LNG on Train 1 at the site in December. The LNG company and construction firm Bechtel currently have more than 5,000 people working at the site, which Cheniere said was 77.2% complete by the end of 2024.
“We are beginning to turn over a significant number of systems over for commissioning and startup on Train 2,” Fusco said.
Trains 1 through 3 will ramp up for production in 2025, according to Cheniere’s schedule, with all seven trains substantially complete by the end of 2026. Stage 3 will add about 10.5 million tons of LNG per year to Cheniere’s overall production, increasing the company’s overall capacity by more than 20%.
