Talos Energy Inc. CFO Shannon E. Young III is leaving the offshore E&P to join Coterra Energy, an oil and gas company with operations in the Permian and Anadarko basins and the Marcellus Shale.
Young will assume the role of executive vice president and CFO at Coterra by the end of June, the company said in a June 15 press release.
Young will take over for CFO Scott Schroeder, who is is retiring after a 28-year career at Cabot Oil and Gas Corp., a predecessor company of Coterra. He served as CFO for 22 years.
Coterra said Christopher Clason, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, is also retiring. Clason served on Coterra’s executive team for five years and has over 25 years of executive leadership experience.
Andrea Alexander will join Coterra Energy as senior vice president and chief human resources officer following Clason’s departure. She holds a degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard.
At Talos, Young will be succeeded by industry veteran Sergio L. Maiworm Jr. as CFO and senior vice president, according to a June 15 press release. The appointment is effective July 1. Maiworm joined Talos in 2018 and has served most recently as the company’s vice president of finance, investor relations and treasurer.
Prior to joining Talos, Maiworm served as an energy investment banker at Deutsche Bank, a manager in the M&A group of Royal Dutch Shell and worked in various roles at Transocean and Deloitte & Touche.
Talos president and CEO Timothy S. Duncan commended Young’s value as a member of Talos’ leadership team, adding that “[Maiworm] brings significant experience, knowledge and expertise in finance, treasury, investor relations and accounting and a deep understanding of our business to position him well to take on the role of CFO.”
