2 The Black Warrior Basin of Alabama will host Coronado Alabama LLC's #2 Burke 29-7 remote wildcat in west-central Hale County about eight miles northwest of Greensboro. The Tulsa, Okla., company will drill the test to 8,000 ft. in Section 29-21n-4e. The company recently drilled a workover from the same surface location when it reenterd #1 Burke 29-7 and drilled to 12,025 ft. It also plans a Pennsylvanian workover nearly a mile south-southeast.
The closest production is some 10 miles north-northeast in the single-well Hardin Creek Field. There, #1 Chandler 34-7 tested for 22 bbl. of oil a day from Knox perforations between 3,220 and 4,162 ft. That well produced 438 bbl. of oil, 123,000 cu. ft. of gas and 268 bbl. of water from 1991 through 1993.
3 A remote wildcat will test Dundee in the Thumb Area of eastern Michigan about four miles east of Sebewaing, Mich., for West Bay Exploration Co., Traverse City, Mich. The #1-1 Janice Roestel is scheduled to 3,000 ft. in Section 1-15n-9e, Sebewaing Township, southwestern Huron County. The closest production is almost eight miles northwest at Grant Sec 29 Field, a Detroit River pool that produces at depths shallower than 3,700 ft. It's also nine miles north-northeast of Elmwood Field, a Dundee pool in Tuscola County. The wildcat offsets an 11,274-ft. dry hole drilled immediately south. That 1986 well found slight gas shows in Prairie du Chien between 10,606-78 ft. The top of the Dundee was at 2,687 ft. and Detroit River was at 3,130 ft. in that well.
4 Rainbow Oil & Gas Inc., Jonesville, Mich., permitted a couple of wildcats to Trenton and Black River at 5,200 ft. about four miles north-northwest of Parma, Mich. The #1-11 Mowrer is in Section 11-2s-3w, Parma Township, northwestern Jackson County. The closest production from Trenton is in Albion-Scipio Field about nine miles west and southwest of the test. The second wildcat is #1-27 Mulnix, about 3.5 miles north-northwest of the Mowrer well in Section 27-1s-3w, Springport Township.
5 A northern Illinois Basin wildcat is on the drawing board five miles north of Buffalo in northeastern Sangamon County, Ill., for Ronald G. Lockwood, Edinburg, Ill. The operator plans to drill its #1-L Hoffman to 2,150 ft. in Section 15-17n-3w to evaluate Silurian. The closest production is almost seven miles southeast at a well discovered in February by Lockwood. That 1,770-ft. test flowed 451 bbl. of oil and 10 bbl. of water a day from Silurian perforations between 1,695 and 1,709 and 1,733 and 1,740 ft. A south offset to that well by Lockwood initially flowed 1,158 bbl. of oil and 100 bbl. of water a day.
6 Western Cumberland County, Ill., will host a Silurian wildcat for RK Petroleum Corp., Midland, Texas. The company's #1 Figgins is in Section 1-9n-7e, more than five miles north of Montrose. It is scheduled to 3,900 ft. The nearest production is 1.75 miles southwest in 14-year-old, single-well Roslyn West Field. That well, #2-10 McClain, tested for 32 bbl. of oil and 47 bbl. of water a day from Geneva perforations between 3,783-84 ft. It has produced a total 21,000 bbl. of oil and still averages about three bbl. a day.
7 Pioneer Oil Co. Inc., Lawrenceville, Ill., staked a pair of 1,000-ft. wildcats in search of McClosky Lime gas in Vigo County, Ind. The company's #1 W. Harlan is in Section 18-10n-9w about 5.8 miles northwest of Farmersburg and 4.1 miles east of Prairie Creek Field, a Tully formation pool. The other well is #1 John Drake in Section 26-11n-10w, about 6.9 miles south of West Terre Haute and 4.3 miles east of Weaver Field.
8 Olive Green Quad in Delaware County, Ohio, will provide sites for three 3,200-ft. Trempealeau wildcats by MFC Drilling, Coshocton, Ohio. The #1 Ralph E. Murphy is in Lot 2, 1st Quarter Township, about 5.6 miles southwest of Marengo and two miles southeast of Morrow County Consolidated Field, a Trempealeau producer. The second well is #1 Old Plantation Farms in Lot 6, 3rd Quarter Township, 5.2 miles northeast of Sunbury and 2.6 miles south of an unnamed Trempealeau pool. MFC's third wildcat is #1 Richard Fisher in Lot 5, 2nd Quarter Township, two miles northeast of Sunbury and two miles northwest of the unnamed field.
9 The Fortuna Energy Inc. subsidiary of Talisman Energy Ltd.¸ Calgary, plans a pair of wildcat wells in New York state. In Tioga County, #1 Janiak will test Black River Lime to 9,284 ft. in Section D, Spencer Quad, Spencer Township, about 1.4 miles southeast of Spencer and 6.9 miles east of Van Atten Field, an Oriskany pool. In Steuben County, the company will drill a 6,750-ft. well to evaluate Marcellus Shale gas potential in Section C, Addison Quad, Erwin Township, about four miles south of Gang Mills and 4.4 miles southwest of Corning Field, which produces from Oriskany.
10 The Great Lakes Energy Partners LLC subsidiary of Range Resources Corp., Fort Worth, Texas, plans a deep wildcat to 14,000 ft. almost five miles northwest of Salladasburg in Lycoming County, northern Pennsylvania. The company's #2 Ogontz Fishing Club is in Cummings Township, Waterville Quad, in the western part of the county. There is no comparable production. The nearest production is a Devonian Huntersville gas well in Salladasburg Field about five miles south, according to IHS Inc.
11 Two wildcats were staked by Huntley & Huntley, Monroeville, Pa., both in search of Upper Devonian gas to 4,000 ft. in Allegheny County, Pa. Both wells are in New Kensington West Quad, Indiana Township. The #5 Zupsic is in Section E, 2.4 miles southeast of Russeltown and 1.5 miles west of an unnamed Devonian Field. The #6 Zupsic lies in Section B, 2.1 miles southeast of Russelltown and also 1.5 miles west of the unnamed field.
12 Reserve Oil & Gas Co., Spencer, W.Va., will drill two 5,500-ft. wildcats to Devonian Shale in Geary District, Newton Quad, Roane County, W.Va. The company's #2 Raymond & Harlen Drake is 12.4 miles northeast of the town of Clendenin and 1.3 miles south of an unnamed Big Injun field, while #3 Ruby E. Carper is 11.4 miles northeast of Clendenis and 1.5 miles northwest of Ammaloneyville-Newton Field, also a Big Injun pool.
13 Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Appalachia LLC plans a 6,250-ft. Onondaga Lime wildcat to look for gas in Buchanan County, Va. The company will drill in North Grundy District, Harman Quad, about 4.8 miles northwest of Grundy and 1.2 miles southwest of an unnamed field that produces from Weir.
14 Two wildcats are in the works for Perry County in eastern Kentucky with Equitable Production Co., Charleston, W.Va., as the operator. Both are in Tilford Quad. The company's #566772 Kentucky River Properties LLC is projected to 4,400 ft. in Section 22-G-77e, about 7.1 miles west of Cumberland, Ky., and 1.7 miles southeast of an unnamed Lower Devonian Field. The #566707 Kentucky River Properties LLC wildcat will drill to 5,000 ft. in Section 25-G-78e, some five miles northwest of Cumberland and two miles south of Big Sandy Field, an Upper Devonian Field.
15 Daugherty Petroleum Inc., a subsidiary of NGAS Resources, Lexington, Ky., plans a pair of 4,900-ft. Lower Devonian wildcats, both in Section 5-D-72e in Balkan Quad, Bell County, eastern Kentucky. The DPI-#851 Enpro Inc. is 8.2 miles northeast of Pineville, Ky., and 1.2 miles east of Kettle Island Field, a Clinton pool. The other well is the DPI-#863 Enpro Inc., also 8.2 miles northeast of Pineville but 1.5 miles east of Kettle Island Field.
16 Atlas America Inc., Moon Township, Pa., will drill two wildcats to evaluate gas potential in Sequatchie, both in Section 16-4s-61e, Fork Mountain Quad, in Morgan County, eastern Tennessee. The BR-#1083 Domestic Fund 7 LLC is 9.5 miles northeast of Wartburg, Tenn., and 1.2 miles west of an unnamed field. The BR-#1084 Domestic Fund 7 LLC is also 9.5 miles northeast of the town, but it's 1.3 miles southwest of the unnamed field.
17 Two additional eastern Tennessee wildcats will look for Sequatchie gas for Atlas America. In Duncan Flats Quad, Anderson County, the AD-#1027 Charlie Taylor et al. is scheduled in Section 10-5s-62e, about 7.3 miles north of Oliver Springs and 2.3 miles east of an unnamed Monteagle Field. The AD-#1025 Charlie Taylor et al. is in Section 6-5s-63e, approximately 6.8 miles north of Oliver Springs and 2.3 miles east of the unnamed field.
