2 Palmer Petroleum Inc., Shreveport, La., will drill a remote Smackover wildcat in AlabamaÕs eastern Monroe County. The 1 Black Stone Minerals et al 26-12 is slated for total depth of 12,250 ft. in Section 26-6n-8e. The nearest activity to the site is in the same section less than a mile northeast. Smackover recovery occurs 10 miles southwest in the three-well Corley Creek Field in western Conecuh County, which yielded 204,493 bbl. of crude, 275.06 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 137,573 bbl. of water from 1990 to 1995. Excel North Field produces from Frisco City and Norphlet to the west.
3 Merit Energy Co., Dallas, completed an exploratory test in northeastern Michigan six miles south-southeast of Mio in Section 19-25n-3e, Mentor Township, southern Oscoda County. The 1-19 USA-State-Mentor C flowed 1.25 million cu. ft. of gas, 5 bbl. of condensate and 12 bbl. of water a day after perforation at 10,004 to 10,100 ft. The discovery is in the 1.5 mile gap separating Wagner Lake Field northwest and Mio Field southeast.
4 Aurora Energy Ltd., Traverse City, Mich., will drill a pair of 3,400-ft. wildcats targeting A-1 Carbonate in southwestern Michigan four miles east of Wayland in Allegan County. The D2-1 Jackson and the C3-1 Jackson are both in Section 1-3n-11w. Wayland Field produced 2.3 million bbl. of oil 2.5 miles west of the wildcats, reports IHS Inc.
5 Howard Energy Corp., Mount Carmel, Ill., scheduled a southern Illinois wildcat three miles east of Coulterville. The 1 Filipsic is in Section 16-4s-4w, northwestern Perry County. It is slated to reach a total depth of about 3,800 ft. in the Ordovician Trenton. The venture is more than two miles west-northwest of the closest previous production in the two-well Craig Field. Eden Field is six miles southwest.
6 Deka Exploration Inc., Oklahoma City, will drill a pair of remote wildcats in southern Indiana. The 1-19H Abner and the 2-19H Abner are both in Section 19-5n-3e, Jackson County four miles northwest of Medora, Ind. They are slated to reach total depth of 815 ft. in search of gas. Bartlesville Field produces from the Trenton lime 14.1 miles northwest.
7 Aurora Energy Ltd., Traverse City, Mich., will drill three wildcats in Knox County, Ind. The A2-33HD Anson is in Section 33-2n-8w, 4.2 miles southeast of Monroe City, Ind. The C1-12H Parker Grain is in Section 12-2n-8w, 4.1 miles southeast of Wheatland. The A4-14HD Parker is in Section 14-2n-8w, 0.4 miles from the above mentioned location. The A2-33HD Anson will reach a depth of 2,800 ft. with additional wells drilling to 5,650 ft. All three wildcats will target gas in New Albany shale. The nearest production is more than a mile southeast where the Monroe City Consolidated produces from Aux Vases. Wheatland Field is 1.4 miles east and produces from McClosky, reports IHS Inc.
8 John D. Oil and Gas Co., Mentor, Ohio, announced a 30-well drilling program in Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties of Ohio. The program will target the Clinton sand formation at depths ranging from 3,200 to 4,000 ft. The company expects to complete the wells and bring them online by end of 2007 or early 2008. The company has secured long-term contracts with an affiliate company to provide drilling and completion equipment for the Appalachian Basin venture.
9 Enervest Operating LLC, Charleston, W.Va., will drill a pair of remote wildcats in OhioÕs Sandusky County. Both ventures, 1 Dean K and 2 Keegan E, are slated for total depth of 3,000 ft. in Section 10, York Township, Clyde Quad about 4.5 miles northwest of Bellevue, Ohio. The wells will target oil and gas in Copper Ridge. Three-tenths of a mile farther, the 3 Keegan L will drill 3,000 ft. in Section 3 with Copper Ridge for oil and gas. The nearest production to both sites is more than 15 miles south in an unnamed field that produces from Trenton.
10 Covalent Energy Corp., Arlington, Va., scheduled a pair of remote wildcats for Otsego County in New York. The 1 Pullis will reach total depth of 2,600 ft. to target gas in Trenton. The venture is in Section C, Richland Springs Quad, Springfield Township 7.5 miles east of Richfield Springs, N.Y. The nearest production is 34.9 miles north in an unnamed field that produces from Clinton. The 1 Sheckells will drill to a similar depth with the same objective. The wildcat is in Section F, East Springfield Quad, 2.4 miles west of Cherry Valley, N.Y. The unnamed field is 33.8 miles northeast, according to IHS Inc.
11 Fortuna Energy Inc., a subsidiary of Talisman Energy Inc., Calgary, will drill a deep directional wildcat in New YorkÕs Chemung County. The 2 Cotton-Hanlon is projected to reach 13,575 ft. with total vertical depth of 10,195 ft. targeting gas in Black River lime. The venture is in Section H, Van Etten Quad, 2.8 miles south of Van Etten, N.Y. The nearest Black River production occurs in an unnamed field 2.1 miles east.
12 Great Lakes Energy Partners LLC, Yatesboro, Pa., scheduled a pair of 8,000-ft. wildcats to target gas in an Upper Devonian Series in Lycoming County, Pa. The 1 Laurel Hill Game Club is in Section G, Liberty Quad, Jackson Township, 4.2 miles south of Liberty. The nearest Upper Devonian production occurs in an unnamed field 12.4 miles northeast. The 1 Bobst Mountain Hunting Club is in Section I, White Pine Quad, Cogan House Township, 9.3 miles northeast of Salladasburg, Pa. The site is 6.8 miles west of the above mentioned field. Eastern American Energy Corp., Indiana, Pa., will also drill in Lycoming County with the 4,000-ft. 2 Lipscomb in Section B, Gerard Fort Quad, Cumberland Township, 5.5 miles south of Jefferson, Pa. The venture will target Upper Devonian gas.
13 Atlas Resources Inc., Uniontown, Pa., plans to drill three 9,000-ft. wildcats in Westmoreland County, Pa. All three wells will target Upper Devonian gas. Two of the proposed wells, the 10 Fulmer Unit and the 11 Fulmer Unit, are located in Section A, Smithson Quad, Sewickley Township, more than three miles southwest of Madison, Pa. The nearest Devonian Upper production occurs in Turkeytown Field 1.9 miles north. The third well, the 11 Smith Unit, is in Section D, Smithson Quad, South Huntington Township, 3.9 miles northeast of Smithton, Pa. It is 0.6 miles from the nearest production in the above mentioned field. Linn Operating LLC, Indiana, Pa., will also drill in Westmoreland County with its 8398 Hauser Family Trust. The 4,000-ft. wildcat will target gas in Huntersville chert. It is in Section D, Mammoth Quad, Mount Pleasant Township.
14 Cabot Oil & Gas Corp., Charleston, W.Va., plans to drill two wildcats in Mason County, W.Va. The A-1H Meadows will reach a projected depth of 8,000 ft. in search of gas in the Devonian shale. The venture is in Hannan Dist., Mount Olive Quad, 8.6 miles north of Milton. The A-2H Meadows in a similar location will drill to projected depth of 7,000 ft. An unnamed field produces from the Brown 1.3 miles north. Ascent Resources WV Inc., Plano, Texas, will drill 1 Watterson O in its 292-acre lease in Hannan District, Mount Olive Quad, also in Mason County, W.Va. The venture will target Devonian at projected depth of 3,550 ft. No further details were available.
15 The Meridian Resource Corp., Houston, will target New Albany gas with a 4,600-ft. wildcat in Henderson County, Ky. The proposed site is in Section 11-P-22e, Wilson Quad, 4.4 miles northeast of Corydon, Ky. The nearest production is 1.2 miles southwest in Wilson Consolidated Field, which produces from Lower Renault, reports IHS Inc.
16 Clean Gas Inc., Hindman, Ky., will drill two 4,700-ft. wildcats in eastern KentuckyÕs Letcher County to target gas in Lower Devonian. Both wells are in Section 20-G-79e, Roxana Quad, almost five miles north of Lynch, Ky. The 222 Depue Jack D & Stella is 2.1 miles north of an unnamed field that produces from Silurian. The 224 Depue Jack D & Stella is near Big Lime production in Big Sandy Field.
17 Atlas America Inc., Moon Township, Pa., scheduled three wildcats for Scott County in northeast Tennessee. The BR-1143 Fund 7 Domestic LLC is in Section 10-4s-60e, Gobey Quad, 10.2 miles northeast of Wartburg, Tenn. Its projected depth is 3,720 ft. to target gas in Sequatchie. The BR-1144 Fund 7 Domestic LLC is in Section 6-4s-61e, Fork Mountain Quad, also more than 10 miles northeast of Wartburg. With a similar target, the well will reach projected depth of 3,950 ft. The AD-1091 Taylor Charlie et al (Addington) is slated for a total depth of 3,875 ft. in Section 21-3s-61e, Norma Quad, 11.8 miles south of Huntsville, Tenn. The venture will target Sequatchie gas. The nearest production is more than a mile northeast in an unnamed field.
