1 Cabot Oil & Gas Corp., Houston, will drill a remote wildcat in the eastern half of northern Mississippi's nonproducing Yalobusha County. The #1 Weyerhaeuser-Hilburn 15-6, in Section 15-25n-7e of western Black Warrior Basin, will reach total depth of 9,000 ft. Cabot is waiting for tests of a possible Mississippian discovery about 20 miles southeast in adjacent Calhoun County in Section 9-14s-1e. The only recovery in Calhoun County is 10 miles north in Reid Field.



2 Spooner Petroleum Co., Jackson, Miss., will drill a wildcat in southern Monroe County, Ala., about 14 miles southwest of Frisco City. It will drill #2 Mims 21-10 to total depth of 15,000 ft. in Section 21-4n-5e, targeting Smackover. Nearest recovery is 1.75 miles north in Wallers Creek Field, opened in 1985. Two inactive, one-well Smackover reservoirs are also in the area. Palmers Creek Field yielded 412,908 bbl. of oil and 248.1 million cu. ft. of gas, while Mineola Field recovered 610,896 bbl. of oil and 5.3 billion cu. ft. of gas.



3 Devon Energy Production Co. LP, Oklahoma City, plans an offshore Alabama wildcat on Sleeping Bear prospect in southern Mobile Block 826. The #1 OCS G26176 will be drilled in 50 ft. of water to evaluate Norphlet. A well in Mobile Block 827 Field is 2.33 miles northeast. There, #2 OCS G05060 was completed June 2005, flowing gas from Upper Miocene perforated at 2,520-29 ft., and has recovered 1.33 billion cu. ft. of gas and 420 bbl. of water, reports IHS Inc.



4 Tiger Development LLC, Suttons Bay, Mich., plans a 3,800-ft. wildcat to target Devonian Dundee in Michigan's Mecosta County, about five miles southeast of Mecosta. It will drill #1-32 Tiger-Sharp in Section 32-14n-7w, Wheatland Township. The proposed site is 4.5 miles south of inactive Wheatland Field, which produced about 141,600 bbl. of oil from Dundee between its discovery in 1945 and its abandonment in 1960. Other production in the area comes from Six Lakes Field, almost five miles southwest.



5 Jordan Development Company LLC, Traverse City, Mich., plans to drill #9-9 Diamond in Section 9-11n-5w, about 6.9 miles east of McBride in Montcalm County, Mich. The 1,500-ft. wildcat will target the Michigan formation. Crystal Field, which produces from Dundee lime, is 3.8 miles north.



6 O'Brien Energy Co., Shreveport, La., will drill an Illinois Basin wildcat to evaluate Trenton (Ordovician) at 4,500 ft. It will drill #1-1 Emma Collins Trust in Section 1-4n-11w, northeastern Lawrence County, about three miles west of Russellville, Ill. The closest previous producers are a mile southwest in Pinkstaff East Field, a Rosiclare pool at about 1,625 ft. Russellville Field is 1.5 miles southeast. The nearest Trenton production is at a two-well pool in the Lawrence Field area about 12 miles southwest.



7 Herman A. Wolf, Neoga, Ill., has scheduled a 1,000-ft. wildcat for Monroe County, Ill. The #1 HT Farms will evaluate oil in St. Peter in Section 30-3s-10w, about 1.6 miles north of Maeystown. The nearest production is 7.5 miles southwest in Waterloo Field, from Trenton.



8 Dome Drilling Co., Cleveland, Ohio, plans a 3,600-ft. wildcat targeting oil and gas in Clinton sand in Cuyahoga County. The #1 Ursuline Academy is in Lot 11, Chagrin Falls Quad, about 1.2 miles northwest of Pepper Pike. The nearest Clinton production is 1.3 miles south in Mayfield Field. Also in Cuyahoga County, Cutter Oil, West Salem, Ohio, will drill #1 Chaincraft in Lot 485, Shaker Heights Quad, in Independence Township. It will reach total depth of 3,900 ft. to target Clinton sand. The site is nearly a mile northeast of Garfield Heights, and nearest Clinton production is 2.2 miles northeast in an unnamed field.



9 OGE Energy Ltd., Napoleon, Ohio, plans an 1,800-ft. wildcat in Henry County in northwestern Ohio. It will drill #1-16 Eickmeier in Section 16, McClure Quad, in Richfield Township, about five miles south of McClure. It will target Trenton oil and gas, produced about 1.6 miles south in an unnamed field, reports IHS Inc.



10 Great Lakes Energy Partners LLC, a unit of Fort Worth, Texas-based operator Range Resources, staked a 2,500-ft. wildcat about 3.4 miles southeast of Phelps in Ontario County, N.Y. The #1 Day Brothers Unit is in Section 6, Phelps Quad, and targets gas in Queenston shale. The nearest Queenston production is six miles northwest in Fayette Waterloo Field.



11 Nornew Inc., Norwich, N.Y., will drill two wildcats, both exceeding 5,000-ft., to target Oneida gas in New York's Chenango County. It will drill #1 Palmatier to a projected depth of 5,210 ft. in Section 7, Norwich Quad, Preston Township, about 6.6 miles west of Norwich. Nearest Oneida production is 6.9 miles south in an unnamed field. The second wildcat, #1-540 Urgo, is in Section A, Tyner Quad, McDonough Township, about 6.2 miles northwest of Oxford, N.Y. Nearest Oneida production is 6.2 miles north in Beaver Meadow Field.



12 McIntire William Coal Oil & Gas, Shelocta, Pa., plans to drill several 6,000-ft. wildcats in Butler County, Penn. All three wells-#1 Eshenbaugh K, #1 Taylor and #1 Wulff-will target an Upper Devonian series in search of gas. The first well is in Section 3, Mount Chestnut Quad, the second in Section 9, West Sunbury Quad, both within a mile of West Sunbury. The third well is in Section 4, East Butler Quad, about 4.4 miles northeast of Shanor-Northvue, Penn. Venango production is about a mile from the first two proposed sites in Hooker Field. The third well is 2.4 miles west of Butler-Cross Field, which produces from Upper Devonian.



13 Equitable Production Co., Charleston, W.Va., plans to drill WV#510773 Perkins, a 5,500-ft. wildcat, in Jackson County, W.Va., to target Devonian shale in Washington District, Kentucky Quad, about 11 miles north of Sissonville. Nearest production is 2.9 miles east in Elk-Poca Sissonville Field, which produces from Berea.



14 Quality Natural Gas LLC, Allen, Ky., and other operators plan to drill wildcats in eastern Kentucky's Letcher County. Quality will target Lower Devonian with its #1664 Pendleton Woodrow in Section 1-G-80e, Whitesburg Quad, about 2.8 miles south of Whitesburg, Ky. Equitable Production Co. plans to drill two wildcats nearby. The #466721 Kentucky River Properties LLC is in Section 18-g-78e, Tilford Quad, and #566928 Kentucky River Properties LLC is in Section 24-g-78e. The wells will reach 4,500 ft. and 1,857 ft. respectively, and target Lower Devonian. Both wildcats are 1.5 miles from an unnamed field producing from Upper Devonian near Cumberland.



15 JTS Resources Inc., Dallas, will drill #2 Buckner Russell in Section 24-4s-52e, Obey City Quad, 3.1 miles north of Monterey in Tennessee's Overton County. The proposed wildcat will target Knox at a projected depth of 2,500 ft., reports IHS Inc.



16 Atlas America Inc., Moon Township, Penn., plans three wildcats in Scott County, Tenn. It will drill BR-#1146 Fund 7 Domestic in Section 6-4s-61e to a projected depth of 3,900 ft. to target the Sequatchie. Nearby, BR-#1145 Fund 7 Domestic LLC and BR-#11470 Fund 7 will target a similar formation at 3,940 ft. and 3,970 ft., respectively. The three wells will be in Fork Mountain Quad, about 11 miles northeast of Wartburg, Tenn., and over two miles from an unnamed field producing from Knox and Monteagle.
