Separately, Shreveport-based Palmer Petroleum Inc. drilled a remote Smackover wildcat in eastern Monroe County, 0.5 mile west-northwest of Conecuh County. The #1 Black Stone Minerals et al. 26-12 reached total depth of 12,080 ft. in Section 26-6n-8e. The well is awaiting completion tools. Nearest activity to the site is almost a mile northeast in the same section. Almost 10 miles southwest, western Conecuh County's three-well Corley Creek Field produced from Smackover between 1990 and 1995. Excel North Field to the west produces from Frisco City and Norphlet.
2 Tipka AW Oil & Gas Inc., Dover, Ohio, plans a 3,000-ft. wildcat in Lenawee County, Michigan, and will drill 1-1 Strahan in Section 1-8s-5e to evaluate oil and gas potential in Trenton. The proposed site is 4.6 miles southeast of Blissfield. Nearest production is four miles south at Summerfield Section 19 Field, which produces from the Trenton, according to IHS Inc.
3 John D. Oil & Gas Co., Mentor, Ohio, will drill several wildcats in Geauga and Lake counties in northeastern Ohio, including #13 Murray in Lot 9, Chardon Quad, approximately 13.3 miles north of Cardon, Ohio. The well will reach a projected depth of 3,800 ft. to evaluate oil and gas in Clinton sand. Nearest Clinton production is 1.7 miles east in an unnamed field. In adjacent Lake County, it has slated two 3,500-ft. wildcats, also to evaluate Clinton sand. The #13D Lakeland is in Lot 1, Mentor Quad, some 2.3 miles west of Kirtland Hills, Ohio. Nearest production is 1.6 miles south at Mentor Field. The #13E Lakeland will be drilled in a similar location 1.7 miles southeast of Kirtland Hills.
4 Hall & Horning, Ravenna, Ohio, will drill two 4,900-ft. wildcats in Mahoning County, Ohio. The #1 Blazek is in Lot 10, Milton Quad, about 2.7 miles south of Craig Beach. The #1 Campbell is in Lot 11 of the same township. Clinton sand is the objective of both wells, which is also produced from an unnamed field over a mile from both sites.
5 East Resources Inc., Warrendale, Pa., plans a deep wildcat in Chemung County, New York. It will drill #1 Farmer G to a projected depth of 10,734 ft. in search of gas in Black River lime. The well is in Section D, Elmira Quad, Southport Township, about 3.1 miles south of West Elmira, N.Y. The nearest Black River production is five miles northeast in Seeley Creek Field.
In separate activity, Calgary-based Talisman Energy Inc. subsidiary Fortuna Energy Inc. has scheduled a directional wildcat in New York's Tioga County. The #1 AA Dairy will reach a total vertical depth of 9,425 ft. in Section D, Spencer Quad, Spencer Township. The well will evaluate gas in Black River lime some 0.9 mile south of Spencer, N.Y. Nearest production is four miles northeast in an unnamed field, which produces from Upper Devonian.
6 Ergon Exploration Inc., Monroe, La., plans a second 13,500-ft. wildcat in western Pennsylvania's Beaver County. The #1 Burdick is in Ohioville Borough, Midland Quad, near Blackhawk Field, which is an Oriskany gas pool. The site is near the company's #1 DBC, which was spudded in late June. No other reports were available.
7 Two companies have scheduled wildcats for Pennsylvania's Armstrong County. Snyder Brothers Co., Kittanning, Pa., will drill #1-10 Thomas M Tarr in Section E, Kittanning Quad, North Buffalo Township, about 1.5 miles southwest of West Kittanning, Pa. The well will evaluate gas in an Upper Devonian series at 5,000 ft. Nearest Upper Devonian production comes from Limestone Run Field about 1.1 miles east. Dannic Energy Inc., Indiana, Pa., will drill #1 Salerno in Section F, Chicora Quad, Sugarcreek Township. The Upper Devonian wildcat will evaluate oil and gas at 4,000 ft. The proposed site is 4.1 miles southeast of Brady, Pa., and the nearest production is 1.1 miles west at Madison Field, which produces from the Fifth sand, reports IHS Inc.
8 Several companies have scheduled wildcats for Pennsylvania's Greene County. Penneco Oil Company Inc., Delmont, Pa., plans to drill its #4 Braddock in Section B, New Freeport Quad, Aleppo Township. The well will evaluate oil and gas in an Upper Devonian series at 5,000 ft. The site is 10.7 miles east of Cameron, W.Va. Nearest production is 1.3 miles northeast at McCracken Field, which produces from Gordon. Atlas Resources Inc., Uniontown, Pa., plans to drill four 6,000-ft. wildcats. The #2 Pevarnik, #3 Pevarnik, #5 Pevarnik and #6 Pevarnik are in Section G, Carmichaels Quad, Cumberland Township. All four wells will evaluate gas in Upper Devonian; the sites are within a mile of Fairdale. Nearest Upper Devonian production to #2 and #6 Pevarnik lies 1.3 miles northeast at Carmichaels Field. The #3 Pevarnik is 1.1 miles southwest of Fifty Foot sand production in an unnamed field, and #5 Pevarnik is 1.1 miles southwest of Jefferson Field, which produces from Big Injun.
9 Chesapeake Appalachia LLC, Oklahoma City, has slated a wildcat in Pleasant District, Valley Point Quad, Preston County, about 4.8 miles south of Bruceton Mills, W.Va. The #626537 Darwin E. Titchenell et al. will evaluate gas in Benson sand at a projected depth of 3,800 ft. Tuscarora sand production is four miles northeast in Wildcat Field.
10 Mountain V Oil & Gas Inc., Bridgeport, W.Va., will drill a remote wildcat in Upshur County, W.Va., #WV0122 Bob Carr 2 in Buckhannon District, Buckhannon Quad, approximately 7.2 miles east of Falling Spring. The well is to evaluate gas from Benson sand at a depth of 4,325 ft. Nearest production is 20.7 miles east from an unnamed field.
11 Daugherty Petroleum Inc., a unit of NGAS Resources Inc., Lexington, Ky., plans a wildcat in Virginia's Lee County. The #1754 Dulcimer Land Co. is to evaluate gas in Corniferous lime at a projected depth of 5,750 ft. The well is in the Rocky Station District, Pennington Gap Quad, approximately 1.3 miles east of St. Charles. Nearest production comes from an unnamed field 1.2 miles southwest.
12 Interstate Natural Gas Co., Pikeville, Ky., will drill #23T The Elk Horn Coal Co. in Section 24-O-77E, Seitz Quad, in eastern Kentucky's Magoffin County. The 2,700-ft. wildcat will evaluate oil and gas in Big Six sand some 7.8 miles southwest of Salyersville, Ky. Nearest Big Six production is at an unnamed field 1.4 miles south. Also, J.D. Carty Resources Inc., Salyersville, Ky., will drill #1 Scotty D and Sarah Howard in Section 18-p-77e to a depth of 3,999 ft. in search of gas in Black River shale, 4.5 miles northwest of the company's base. Nearest production is 2.2 miles north from an unnamed field.
13 Clean Gas Inc., Hindman, Ky., plans a 4,700-ft. wildcat in eastern Kentucky's Letcher County in Section 19-G-79e to evaluate gas in Lower Devonian, some 4.1 miles north of Benham. Nearest production is from the Silurian at an unnamed field about 1.8 miles northwest.
14 Four wildcats are slated for East Fork Quad, Metcalfe County, in central Kentucky, reports IHS Inc. Rick-Rod Oil Inc., Columbia, Ky., plans to drill #1 JT Scroggy in Section 22-H-47e, some 7.6 miles north of Edmonton to search for oil in Knox at a depth of 1,999 ft. At 1.6 miles from East Fork Field, a Knox producer, East Fork Energy Partners Inc., Edmonton, Ky., will drill #9 Jackie Scott in Section 22-H-47e to a depth of 2,000 ft., also for Knox oil. Nearest production is from Leipers at Caney Fork Field, 1.2 miles southwest. Columbia, Ky.-based G&R Oil will drill two 1,999-ft. wildcats. The #2 Ronnie Tucker is in Section 18-H-47e, some 8.3 miles north of Edmonton, and #3 Ronnie Tucker is in Section 19-H-47e, 8.6 miles north. Both wells are within two miles of Caney Fork Field.
