Enlight Renewable Energy has started initial operations at its $827 million Atrisco Solar and Energy Storage project outside Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Israeli company said Sept. 11.
Enlight subsidiary Clenera built the solar project with 364 megawatts of solar generation capacity and 1.2 gigawatt-hours of energy storage capacity. It is the largest Enlight project in capacity and capex.
The solar array will reach full commercial operations over the coming weeks, and by year-end, the battery energy storage system’s commercial operating date is expected.
“Achieving the first phase of commercial operations at Atrisco is a major milestone,” said Clenera President and CEO Adam Pishl. “We have taken a brownfield site with little use and transformed it into a clean energy power plant. The low-cost, emission-free energy produced here will benefit generations of New Mexico residents and is the first of our future investments in the state.”
Enlight expects project revenues of $51 million to $55 million and EBITDA of $41 million to $45 million in its first full year of operation.
Runergy supplied the solar panels, Array Technologies Inc. supplied the trackers, Sungrow the string inverters and Tesla the energy storage system.
Public Service Co. of New Mexico is purchasing the power produced at Atrisco, the equivalent of 110,000 households’ annual consumption, under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
