Leon Hamilton, cyber security consultant: Cybersecurity safety should be a priority for one reason and one reason alone. One person, one individual can cause the entire organization to end up in the headlines for something negative.

Jennifer Pallanich, senior technology editor, Hart Energy: ChatGPT, another generative AI program, [is] changing how work is done in the energy industry, but how do you prevent the vulnerabilities while still reaping the benefits of these powerful programs? We explore the possibilities in this Hart Energy LIVE exclusive.

LH: Cybercriminals know that a lot of people are using ChatGPT, okay? What that does is that allows them to upload malicious software into ChatGPT. So when you open them on your corporate computer or even on your home computer, which you're using for corporate work, you're introducing malicious software into the network.

Also, business intelligence. When you put something specific inside of ChatGPT that you're looking for, a cybercriminal can take what you're looking for, couple that with what he or she can find on open source, and now they can conclude the strategic direction of your company. Most of the time when you are utilizing software on a corporate network, it has to be vetted by the IT department. Many times, people are just doing a workaround, downloading it and using it to their advantage. To their credit, it is a good program to do some of the work that they need to do from day-to-day, but you don't want to put your entire IT infrastructure in harm's way. With change management, you have to remember that the center of gravity for anything you want to get done is the human element, okay? And if you don't cater to the human element, then you're not going to be successful. You need to have their buy-in. You need to have their endorsement. And one of the best ways to get that is through what I call participative management, whereby you include them in the decisions. You include them when you're trying to get things started. Because once they embrace it, then they're going to do extra to make sure it's successful. That's a concept called organizational citizenship behavior, whereby they will do that extra bit of work or stay that extra hour to make sure it comes to success.
