Hi, I am Brian Walzel, senior editor at Hart Energy. We're here at Hart Energy's DUG Gas Conference in Shreveport, [Louisiana] and I'm joined here by William Sellers, solutions architect at DartPoints, a data center located here in Louisiana. William just took part in a great panel discussion around AI [artificial intelligence] data center power demand. And so William, following up on that conversation, can you talk a little bit about the impact that the data center power demand will have on the natural gas industry?
William Sellers, solutions architect, DartPoints: Absolutely. Well, when it comes to pulling power from our sources, the data center demands have completely exploded. With the advent of AI in the enterprise world, we still require lots of power in a data center, but when we start talking about AI workloads, that number has exploded. When we look at either bringing in more dense data centers or looking at new data centers to deploy out in the world, the ability to find gas providers that can get us the power we need quickly and efficiently and reliability is key.
BW: Sure. And what are, in your opinion, some of the solutions that the natural gas industry can provide in meeting that power demand?
WS: Really, I think that as we see more natural gas developers coming online and giving us the choice of where we can place our data centers, that is really key. When we look at conventional power generation, like if it's nuclear, it's a little bit more difficult. We don't have new nuclear plants being built in the United States, so LNG gives us that reliability and capacity, but it's more abundant.
BW: And one of the things we just talked about on the panel discussion were synergies between LNG and data centers. What types of synergies do you see between the two, particularly when it comes to meeting supply demands?
WS: Really, I feel the synergies rely on just the reliability of LNG. I think that's the biggest thing, right? And to give our data centers the uptime that we need, the four nines and keeping our or five nines, keeping our data centers up and running and reliable.
BW: Great. Well, I appreciate it. That wraps up our time here with William Sellers at DartPoints. William, thank you for your time and thank you all for watching.
