Ehsan Bayat, executive vice president of business development at Houston-based New Dawn Energy LLC, is today’s featured Forty Under 40 honoree.
Bayat began his career in oil and gas as a regulatory analyst for Americo Energy, providing support to the engineering and geological staff, performing data mining and presentation of such data as maps and charts for decision making.
“I could have easily spent many more years [after entering the oil and gas industry] specializing in reservoir and production engineering,” he said. “However, my father and I took the new exciting task of building a new oil and gas company, New Dawn Energy LLC, and managing it.”
At New Dawn, Bayat works alongside his father, Ghasem Bayat who serves as CEO of the privately owned E&P. The company was formed in 2015 to acquire and develop oil and gas operated and nonoperated assets in major basins in the U.S.
“This was a turning point in my career that took advantage of, first, my knowledge of screening oil and gas properties and performing data mining for specialists, and second, my communication skills from my earlier career,” Bayat continued.
Today, New Dawn has assets in multiple U.S. shale plays. A project that Bayat said he is particularly proud of is New Dawn’s recent acquisition of a nearly 300,000-acre minerals position in western Louisiana that he led.
“Our team studied and evaluated this project for almost nine months before completing the transaction,” he said. “The project offered our company many large-scale oil and gas projects for development.”
