1 The EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. subsidiary of Calgary-based EnCana Corp. tested gas at a rate of 9.65 million cu. ft. with 120 bbl. of water a day at its #1 Martin "K" discovery in eastern Robertson County, Texas (RRC 5). The wildcat is about seven miles east-northeast of Franklin in Pedro Jose Pereire Survey, A-32. The well tested through perforations between 14,940 and 15,508 ft. in Cotton Valley with 3,615 psi of flowing tubing pressure. EnCana drilled the well to 16,500 ft. and plugged back to 16,310 ft. EnCana permitted three other tests in the same survey, projecting #1 G.H. Ingram Jr. "C" Unit to 17,200 ft., #1 Brunette Unit to 17,200 ft. and #1 Louise Corn Unit to 18,900 ft. The new well is 5.5 miles east-northeast of the nearest producer in the single-well Cannae Field. That well tested for 5.32 million cu. ft. of gas and 134 bbl. of water a day, according to IHS Energy records. 2 Fort Worth-based XTO Energy has scheduled an apparent Pettet wildcat. The #2 Davy Crockett in the northeastern portion of Houston County (RRC 6) is slated to reach a total depth of 13,600 ft. on a 160-acre lease in the I&GN RR Co Survey, A-601. The #1 Temple Industries "C," produces from Pettet some three miles northeast in Decker Switch Field, in the Leonard Williams Survey, A-94. That 10,744-ft. well was tested flowing 367,000 cu. ft. of gas per day through perforations at 10,193 to 10,744 ft. 3 Dominion Exploration & Production Inc., Richmond, Va., has completed a discovery 0.25-mile west-northwest of the town of Mauriceville in T&NO RR Co. Survey, A-192, in Orange County, Texas (RRC 3). The #1 Donner Gas Unit produced gas at the daily rate of 1.36 million cu. ft., with 45 bbl. of 60.6-degree gravity condensate. According to IHS Energy, flowing tubing pressure was 2,320 psi on an 11/64-in. choke. The well is cased to a total depth of 8,760 ft., but was plugged back to 8,672 ft. 4 EOG Resources Inc., Houston, completed a workover in the northwestern portion of Matagorda County, Texas (RRC 3). The #1 Taylor, in the Sugar Valley Field area in the George Freeman Survey, A-40, had an initial daily potential of 4.03 million cu. ft. of gas, with 80 bbl. of 47-gravity condensate and 14 bbl. of water, from perforations in the Frio from 11,420-26 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was 3,740 psi on a 12/64-in. choke. The well reached a total depth of 12,900 ft., but was plugged back to 11,580 ft. 5 Signal Oil & Gas Co. Inc., Irving, Texas, has completed a Miocene discovery in northern Jackson County, Texas (RRC 2). The #1 Dana, on a 42.75-acre lease in the I&GN RR Co Survey, A-168, has the potential to produce 223,000 cu. ft. of gas daily. Perforations in the Miocene from 2,847-49 ft. were tested, and flowing and shut-in tubing pressures were 1,100 and 1,195 psi. 6 A Wilcox discovery was completed by U.S. Enercorp Ltd., San Antonio, in the eastern section of DeWitt County, Texas (RRC 2). The company drilled #1 Joycelynn on a 637.37-acre lease in the SA&MG RR Co. Survey, A-440. This discovery has the potential to produce 1.59 million cu. ft. of gas per day, with 52 bbl. of 55-gravity condensate and three bbl. of water, through perforations between 12,374 and 12,418 ft. The flowing tubing pressure was calculated at 3,915 psi. The #1 Joycelynn's total depth is 16,100 ft., with a plug-back depth of 13,186 ft. 7 Property Development Group Inc., Austin, permitted a wildcat in the north-central area of Atascosa County, Texas (RRC 1). Scheduled to reach a depth of 4,500 ft., #1 Sanchez is on an 80-acre lease in the John Jeff Rutledge Survey, A-725. The #5 Henrietta Krisch is the nearest producer and is two miles north-northeast in Jungen C. Dirks Survey, A-197. According to IHS Energy, the 3,606-ft. well tested flowing 126 bbl. of crude per day through perforations in the Austin Chalk from 3,559-69 ft. 8 Dewbre Petroleum Corp., Corpus Christi, plans to drill a Frio test in Hidalgo County, Texas, (RRC 4) 12 miles northwest of Hargill, Texas. The company will drill #3 Arcadio to approximately 9,100 ft. in the Juan Jose Balli Survey, A-290. Dewbre completed a well 0.50-mile west in the same survey. The #1 Arcadio, at 9,300 ft. deep, offered a flow rate of 1.57 cu. ft. of gas, 12 bbl. of condensate and two bbl. of water through perforations in the Frio from 8,760-82 ft. 9 Smith Production Inc., Houston, completed a discovery on a 103.84-acre lease in Hidalgo County, Texas (RRC 4). The company tested perforations between 10,404 and 10,520 ft. at #1 Roberts in the Jose Francisco de la Garza Survey, A-579. The discovery has the potential of producing 1.15 million cu. ft. of gas a day, along with 18 bbl. of 54-gravity condensate and 144 bbl. of water. Flowing tubing pressure was 5,065 psi. The #1 Roberts plug-back depth is 11,392 ft. Smith is also rigging up rotary tools at another Mission West Field test 0.33-mile north of #1 Roberts. 10 Newfield Exploration Co., Houston, completed a sidetrack at its #1 State Lease 18447 well in West Cameron Block 31 in the Gulf of Mexico for an initial potential of 8.49 million cu. ft. of gas and 163 bbl. of condensate a day from Miocene perforations between 12,742-75 ft. It ran the tests through a 12/64-in. choke with 8,727 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The nearest producer is 1.5 miles northwest in West Cameron Block 1 Field where #1 State Lease 07551 tested at 5 million cu. ft. of gas a day from Lower Miocene. 11 In state waters in Jefferson and Plaquemines parishes, Louisiana, Newfield Exploration Co. has completed its #1 State Lease 18584 with a gas flow of 8.52 million cu. ft. a day with 360 bbl. of condensate. The well is in the northeastern portion of Grand Isle Block 3. Houston-based Newfield tested the well through Miocene perforations between 17,214-54 ft. on a 15/64-in. choke with 6,229 psi of flowing tubing pressure. According to IHS Energy, the well was drilled to a total depth of 18,230 ft., with 5-in. liner set on bottom. The well was plugged back to 18,145 ft. for completion. True vertical depth of #1 State Lease 18584 is 18,220 ft. 12 A wildcat has been scheduled on the Grand Cayman prospect in the Garden Banks area by Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corp., Oklahoma City. This is the first wildcat prospect for the company in this location. The #1 OCS-G-15914 will be drilled in 2,386 ft. of water in Block 561. This is one of up to 11 wells that could to be drilled on a two-tract unit, according to an initial plan of exploration filed by the operator. The six Block 561 wells are slated for the northern half of the tract. The closest activity is three miles east-southeast on Block 562, at a well that was temporarily abandoned at 19,831 ft. in September 2000. 13 A Cotton Valley discovery was completed by Rising Star Energy LLC, Dallas, in the southern section of north Louisiana's Caddo Parish. Located in Section 1-15n-15w, #1 Clingman "1" was tested flowing 621,000 cu. ft. of gas per day, with 10 bbl. of 57-gravity condensate and 119 bbl. of water, through perforations from 9,125 to 10,320 ft. The discovery was also calculated as having a flowing tubing pressure of 1,750 psi. The operator set casing to a total depth of 10,500 ft. 14 Downsville, La.-based Menoah Petroleum Inc. has completed a Frio discovery as a part of the Louisiana drilling program. The #1 Dupuy Land "13-F" is in Section 13-3n-4e in northern Avoyelles Parish. This Frio discovery had an initial daily potential of 85,000 cu. ft. of gas from perforations at 1,779-81 ft. The #1 Dupuy Land "13-F" was tested on a 5/64-in. choke with 740 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The well reached a total depth of 2,149 ft. with casing set to 2,130 ft. 15 Azimuth Energy LLC, Denver, completed a discovery in western St. Bernard Parish, about one mile east of New Orleans. The #1 Violet Canal, in Section 6-13s-13e, was tested flowing 6.4 million cu. ft. of gas per day, with five bbl. of water, in the Cristellaria I from 9,481 to 9,556 ft. The company tested the well through a 14/64-in. choke with 3,330 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The well was drilled to a total depth of 10,785 ft. with casing set on bottom. 16 More than six miles north of the town of Woodville, Griffin & Griffin Exploration Co., Jackson, Miss. scheduled a wildcat in Mississippi's central Wilkinson County. The wildcat, called #1 Board of Education BR "F-51", is expected to reach a depth of 3,450 ft. in Section 37-3n-2w.
