The #1 Hawes, in Isham Phillips Survey, A-52, tested at an initial potential of 713,000 cu. ft. of gas per day through a 9/64-in. choke with 1,925 psi of flowing tubing pressure from Frio perforations between 5,274-80 ft. The well is 1.75 miles east-southeast of the nearest production, #1 Hudgins Unit, which has produced 95 million cu. ft. of gas from the shallower of two Frio zones and 72 million cu. ft. of gas from the deeper interval in Hungerford North Field.

An apparent Wilcox wildcat is on the drawing board for LGDC Corp., Shreveport, La., about 6.5 miles southeast of Halletsville in Arthur Sherrill Survey, A-399, in Lavaca County, Texas (RRC 2). The company plans to drill its #1 Foster to 8,600 ft. about 1.5 miles east-southeast of the nearest Wilcox production. That production comes from #1 Schulte in Hallettsville South Field, which had an initial production rate of 162 bbl. of oil and 889,000 cu. ft. of casinghead gas a day, according to IHS Inc.

Pioneer Natural Resources USA Inc., Dallas, brought in an Edwards discovery for 1.76 million cu. ft. of gas and 338 bbl. of water a day in southwestern DeWitt County, Texas, (RRC 2). The #1 Menn Gas Unit is about 2.5 miles northwest of Yorktown in John A. King Survey, A-288. Pioneer tested the well through perforations between 13,817-70 ft. on an 18/64-in. choke with 2,300 psi of flowing tubing pressure after drilling to 14,661 ft.

Catarina Petroleum LC, Kendalia, Texas, plans to drill its #5 M. Browne wildcat to 3,250 ft. in northwestern Frio County, Texas, (RRC 1) about 1.5 miles east of the boundary line with Zavala County. The well, in James G. Wright Survey, A-654, is about two miles east-northeast of the closest production in Yoledigo Field. There, the only well in the field, #1 M. Brown, tested 760,000 cu. ft. of gas a day from Tyler perforations between 3,065-90 ft. The well has produced 842 million cu. ft. of gas since 1985.

Manti Operating Co. of Corpus Christi, Texas, completed #1 Baffin Bay State Tract 78 in Kleberg County, Texas, (RRC 4) for 9 million cu. ft. of gas and 785 bbl. of condensate daily. The well was completed in the Loyola Beach Lower Frio sands at 12,567 to 12,793 ft. Located 10 miles east of Rivera and sitting on the coastline of prime South Texas fishing waters, the well is due north of and on trend with Baffin Bay Field, which has produced 46 billion cu. ft. of gas to date.
