2 Goodrich Petroleum Co., Houston, plans an East Texas wildcat near Gates East Field in southwestern Nacogdoches County (RRC Dist. 6). The #1 Beverly Sutton, an apparent Travis Peak test, is projected to reach total depth of 12,500 ft. in Patricio de Torres Survey, A-55. East Gates Field, the nearest production, is more than one mile west-northwest of the site. Goodrich completed another Travis Peak test in the same survey an additional mile west-northwest in April.
3 EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc., Calgary, will drill a deep wildcat in northern Houston County (RRC Dist. 6). The #3 Davy Crockett "A" in Jeremiah Strode Survey, A-81, is projected to reach total depth of 19,500 ft. eight miles south of Anderson County line. The nearest production is the one-well Davy Crockett Field, 2.75 miles northeast of the new site. The two-well Moxie Field is 5.5 miles southwest. There, perforations in Cotton Valley at 16,116 to 17,741 ft. rendered a cumulative 39.58 million cu. ft. of gas and 877 bbl. of water.
4 Resaca Resources LLC, Austin, Texas, completed a discovery in northwestern Liberty County (RRC Dist. 3) 4 miles north of Cleveland, Texas. The #1 Karankawa is in William S. Keaghey Survey, A-304. The well was tested in Cockfield at perforation from 5,395-98 ft. The flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 1,915 psi on a 6/64-in. choke. The nearest production to the site is four miles south-southwest in Cleveland North Field, which yielded 3.79 million bbl. of oil and condensate, 6.46 billion cu. ft. of gas and 2.69 million bbl. of water from Miocene and Eocene since 1946.
5 A new discovery was completed a mile southeast of Hungerford in northeastern Wharton County, Texas (RRC Dist. 3) by Cico Oil & Gas Co., Houston. The #1 Rust Estate is in George W. Singleton Survey, A-58. The initial potential of the well was 1,735,000 cu. ft. of gas, 17 bbl. of 53.5-gravity condensate and 780 bbl. of water a day. Production is apparent Wilcox with perforations at 11,060 to 11,102 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was 5,484 psi on a 12/64-in. choke and the shut-in tubing pressure measured 7,020 psi with an absolute open flow of 4.57 million cu. ft. daily. Immediately surrounding the discovery is Miocene and Yegua production from Spanish Camp Field that produces from nearly 200 wells since 1940. The nearest Wilcox production is in Hudgins Ranch Field four miles northeast of the present site, IHS Inc. reports.
6 Century Resources Inc., Houston, will drill #1 Henry-Kuykendall in Section 959, George Elliott Survey, A-181, in northern McMullen County (RRC Dist. 1) 10 miles north of Tilden, Texas. The proposed wildcat is projected to reach total depth of 6,300 ft. The site is .75 miles southwest of one-well Listo Field, opened in mid-2005. In the same section is the Mid-Freddy Hut Field .25 miles to the west. There, #1 Kassner, since 2005, recovered a total of 41,685 bbl. of crude as the only producer in that field. In addition, the area also produces from Freddy Hut, San Miguel Creek, Dan Countiss and Patty Hut Fields.
7 As part of its Southwest Texas exploratory program ranging through Maverick, Dimmit and Webb Counties, Anadarko Exploration & Production Co. LP, The Woodlands, Texas, staked a new horizontal wildcat in southwestern Dimmit County (RRC Dist. 1). The #2 San Pedro Ranch, in Section 16, Juan Francisco Lombrano Survey, A-1360, about 20 miles southwest of Carrizo Springs, is projected to reach total depth of 13,000 ft. The current test is surrounded by Hugh Fitzsimmons Field. Online since the 1950s, it produces oil and gas from San Miguel and Olmos from 400 to 5,300 ft.
8 T-C Oil Co., Refugio, Texas, will drill #1 Martin O'Connor G in southeastern Refugio County, Texas (RRC Dist. 2). The well has a projected depth of 10,000 ft. in I & GN RR Co. Survey, A-186, about 10 miles west-southwest of Austwell. T-C reestablished production in Sidewinder Field three miles west-northwest of the site. T-C completed a workover in nearby Cavasso Creek Field four miles south-southeast of the current site.
9 ExxonMobil Corp., Irving, Texas, completed a discovery in south-central Kleberg County (RRC Dist. 4). The #1 King Ranch-N. Visnaga is in Section 604, Bernardo Garcia Survey, A-99, about nine miles east of Ricardo, Texas. Tested on a 24/64-in. choke, it flowed 8,820,000 cu. ft. of gas, 263 bbl. of 54.8-gravity condensate and 5 bbl. of water a day. With a total depth of 10,700 ft., the flowing casing pressure was gauged at 3,018 psi. Yeary Field, the nearest recovery, is about 1.5 miles to the south. There, production totaled 194.77 billion cu. ft. of gas, 1.17 million bbl. of oil and condensate and 5.5 million bbl. of water from Frio since the field went onstream in the 1950s.
10 Two discoveries were reported offshore Louisiana. Remington Oil & Gas Corp., now a part of Helix Energy Solutions Group Inc., Dallas, completed #1 OCS G27831 in northeastern East Cameron Block 157. The nearest production is at southeast East Cameron Block 151 Field that has produced 120.6 billion cu. ft. of gas, 1.39 million cu. ft. of oil and condensate and 4.56 million bbl. of water from the Pleistocene, Pliocene and Miocene. Remington scheduled an additional wildcat in the northern portion of East Cameron Block 169.
An additional discovery was made in West Cameron Block 252. Energy Partners Ltd., New Orleans, La., encountered high-quality oil in 82 ft. of water with #1 OCS G27793. The total depth is 8,299 ft. Energy Partners expects to bring the moderate-risk, moderate-potential pay online in 2008. This is the first of four tests proposed by Energy Partners. It will drill three wells to a true vertical depth of 8,300 ft. and a fourth is projected to reach 7,600 ft. The current site is .5 miles from the nearest production. There, #1 OCS G05186 produced a cumulative 3.95 billion cu. ft. of gas, 10,406 bbl. of condensate and 246,164 bbl. of water from Pliocene, as part of West Cameron Block 253 Field, from 1984 through 1999.
11 LLOG Exploration Offshore, Metairie, La., drilled #2 OCS G21120, an offshore discovery in northeastern South Timbalier Block 187. The discovery was drilled in 153 ft. of water to an undisclosed depth. LLOG plans to complete two wells from a similar surface location. The nearest production is about 2.25 miles southwest. There, a single well in the southern section of Block 187, the A-1 OCS G21120, has recovered a cumulative 2.41 billion cu. ft. of gas, 19,922 bbl. of condensate and 602,415 bbl. of water since 2003.
12 A wildcat is planned for North Padre Island Block A-94 offshore Texas. Petrobras America Inc., Houston, will drill #1 OCS G27459 in 320 ft. of water in the southeastern corner of A-94. This is the first of two tests proposed by Petrobras America according to an initial exploration plan. The nearest drilling is the abandoned #1 OCS G05978, more than 11 miles north-northeast on Block A-78. The nearest production is an additional 15 miles west-northwest on Block A-72. There, a total of 8.19 billion cu. ft. of gas and 11,202 bbl. of water were recovered from Miocene perforations at 4,240 ft. to 4,246 ft., IHS Inc. reports.
13 A new wildcat is planned for North Louisiana by SGS Natural Gas Operating LLC, Plano, Texas. The #31 Nabors 6 is in Section 6-12n-13w 1.75 miles northwest of Mansfield in the central portion of DeSoto Parish. The well is projected to reach a depth of 10,500 ft. The nearest deep production is in Grand Cane North Field five miles north-northwest.
14 Union Gas Operating Co., Houston, will drill a South Louisiana wildcat in southwestern Allen Parish 1.5 miles west of Reeves. The #1 Bel Mineral is projected to reach a total depth of 16,000 ft. in Section 22-6s-7w. The nearest production is .5 miles south-southeast at the one-well Bel Field that recovered 7.28 million cu. ft. of gas in its few months. Wilcox recovery occurred at 12,000 ft., the deepest for the area, from Clear Creek Field two miles northwest.
15 KCS Resources Inc., Houston, finalized an exploratory well two miles east of Waynesboro, Miss., in Wayne County. The #1 Board of Education 16-14 in Section 16-8n-6w tested through perforations in Smackover and Cotton Valley between 15,308 ft. and 15,540 ft. The initial potential was 552 bbl. of crude and 1,391,000 cu. ft. of gas. Gauged on a 13/64-in. choke, the flowing tubing pressure was 3,036 psi. The current site is .25 mile southeast from the Winchester South Field opened by the company in 2006. The discovery is also near Winchester Field, where 627,749 bbl. of oil, 196.31 million cu. ft. of gas and 1.24 million bbl. of water were recovered from Cotton Valley and Smackover from 1969 until 1999, IHS Inc. reports.
