Tom Pyle, president of the Institute for Energy Research, sat down with Hart Energy’s Jessica Morales at the recent DUG Permian Basin conference in Fort Worth, Texas, to provide political insight on above-ground challenges in the largest U.S. oil field.
In this interview, Pyle discusses President Donald Trump’s recent trip to Texas that included signing executive orders seeking to curtail states’ ability to delay energy projects plus he addresses the possible effects the Green New Deal and Colorado’s SB 181 could have on the industry.
When asked on his advice for producers concerning a possible fracking moratorium on the New Mexico side of the Permian, Pyle said: “Fight, they absolutely have to fight. There is no compromising with these folks. They are not interested in making it a little less easy to happen. They really want to put oil and gas producers out of business.”
