Ikon Science announced today the release of a major new, mid-Norway Pressure Study by its Durham-based subsidiary GeoPressure Technology (GPT). The study follows GeoPressure’s highly successful pressure study of the North Sea Central Graben in 2004.
The
Richard Swarbrick, managing director of GPT, said, “Based on the high-quality IHS pressure database, coupled with our extensive interpretation experience of high-pressure terrains, we have identified significant pressure trends controlling fluid-flow movements, seal capacity and the distribution of the highest pressure compartments across the region. With pressure-related issues having a major impact on reducing drilling costs and increasing the understanding of prospectivity, the study is a valuable tool for both explorationists and drilling engineers in areas of safety, well planning and seeking out new exploration opportunities.”
The mid-Norway study is presented in printed and electronic format, including 18 maps as well as geo-referenced digital files. The company interpreted more than 1,200 wells in its 2004 Central North Sea pressure study and is planning similar studies for
