• Sydney, Australia-based Novus Petroleum Ltd. has received a counter-takeover offer by Crosby Capital Partners, which includes Novus chief executive Bob Williams, for A$1.77 cash per share, a bid worth more than A$325 million. In December, Novus received an unsolicited takeover offer from PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk for A$1.74 cash per share. Reuters has reported that the offer has been rejected. Novus has production in Australia, the U.S. (deep gas in the Gulf of Mexico and onshore Texas and Louisiana), Oman and Indonesia and additional exploration programs in the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan. • Oklahoma City-based Kerr-McGee Corp. plans to buy a 33.33% working interest in the BM-C-7 block in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil from EnCanBrasil Ltda. for an undisclosed price. • London-based upstart CH4 Energy Ltd. plans to purchase southern North Sea interests in the Markham gas field, the J3C gas field and in the exploration block 43/20d from ENI. Production is about 4,000 BOE per day.
