Italy's Edison said on June 26 it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Slovakia's main energy operator SPP to cooperate on the supply of natural gas and LNG.
Under the agreement, SPP and Edison—which owns a diversified gas portfolio in Italy—will explore possible synergies to allow Slovakia, which has a heavy energy dependence on Russia, to access new gas supply routes from southern and western Europe.
The memorandum with Edison follows similar agreements signed by energy group Eni and Italy's gas grid operator Snam with SPP last April.
