A. Earl Swift, chairman of Swift Energy Co., Houston, has passed away after a brief illness. He was 72. Swift founded the company in October 1979 and was chief executive until May 2001. He had planned to retire in 2007. Bruce Vincent, president, says, "Swift Energy Co. is a testament to his values and determination, which he embedded in the fabric of the company and in its employees." Herman Scarborough "Scobey" Hartley, president and chief executive of JMG Exploration Inc., Calgary, has passed away. As a director of Enterra Energy Corp., he was instrumental in the developmental stages of Enterra Energy Trust.
