Michael Hillebrand has been appointed chairman of the Independent Petroleum Association of America’s (IPAA) board of directors for a two-year term, the IPAA announced Jan. 28.

Hillebrand succeeds Steve Pruett, the CEO of Elevation Resources, in the role. Hillebrand, the CEO of oil and gas company Huntley & Huntley, assumed the role this month following his appointment at the IPAA’s annual meeting last year.

“Past-chairman Steve Pruett, the president and chief executive officer of Elevation Resources, has been invaluable in expanding IPAA's reach in Texas and the Permian Basin. I look forward to working with Mike on deepening our roots and relationships in my home state of Pennsylvania and throughout the Appalachian Basin formations,” said Jeff Eshelman, IPAA president and CEO.

Hillebrand has almost 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including vertical and horizontal drilling, completions and operations, business development, assembly and acquisition and marketing.

Hillebrand is also the founder, shareholder and board member of Huntley & Huntley’s joint venture Olympus Energy, the fifth largest shale producer in southwestern Pennsylvania. Olympus operates almost 100,000 acres in undeveloped core Marcellus, deep Utica and Upper Devonian shale positions.
