2 In western Kansas, Ritchie Exploration Inc., Wichita, Kan., will drill the 4,750-ft. #1 Kyle Hemmert wildcat in Section 33-12s-34w, Logan County, six miles northeast of Russell Springs. According to IHS Energy, the well will evaluate Lansing, Cherokee (Pennsylvanian) and Mississippian zones. The nearest well is #1-35D Becker in Section 35-12s-35w that produced five bbl. of oil and 11 bbl. of water per day from Altamont from 4,292-93 ft. and the Johnson zone of Cherokee from 4,526-29 ft. to open Fantasia Field.
3 Seeco Inc., the Fayetteville, Ark.-based unit of Southwestern Energy Corp., Houston, will drill a wildcat targeting the Fayetteville shale in the northeastern Arkoma Basin. The #1-5-H Reed will be in Section 5-10n-14w, Van Buren County, Ark., and drilled to 5,100 ft. with a true vertical total depth of 2,580 ft. The site is five miles east-northeast of #1-4 Hankins discovery in Section 4-10n-15w. This well was drilled to 2,892 ft. and produced 326,000 cu. ft. of gas per day from a fractured Fayetteville interval from 1,820 to 2,076 ft. on a 16/64-in. choke.
4 Three wildcats in eastern Arkansas will evaluate Fayetteville shale for Maverick Operating, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The #1-27-H Nicholson will be drilled to 5,867 ft. in Section 27-5n-1w, Woodruff County. The #1-H-3 Byers will be drilled to 7,050 ft. in Section 3-5n-1w, Woodruff County. In St. Francis County, #1-4-H Fowler in Section 4-4n-1e will have measured and true vertical depths of 7,000 and 5,500 ft., respectively.
5 BP America Production Co., London, hopes to drill two wildcats in Oklahoma after the Oklahoma Corporation Commission considers the submissions. The Anadarko Basin wildcats will be drilled four to five miles north of Mountain View. BP wants to drill in Sections 11 and 14-8n-15w, southeastern Washita County. The two potential sites are two miles northwest of #1-24 Cristal in Section 24-8n-15w that is currently being drilled. The two locations are also two to three miles east of #1 Coon in Section 16-8n-15w. This 23,200-ft. well was tested on a 12/64-in. choke for an initial flowing potential of 1.6 million cu. ft. of gas per day from the Upper Morrow perforated from 17,492-98 ft.
6 Two wildcats found gas for Newfield Exploration Mid-Continent Inc., Houston, in Hughes County, Okla. The #1H-36 Parker, Section 36-4n-10e, flowed at a rate of 5.31 million cu. ft. per day, with 82 bbl. of water daily. According to IHS Energy, production is from three fractured intervals in Woodford from 7,820 to 8,380 ft., 8,620 to 9,180 ft. and 9,420 to 9,980 ft. on a 36/64-in. choke with a tubing pressure of 1,353 psi. The #1-29 Poe, Section 29-4n-11e, flowed 376,000 cu. ft. of gas and 30 bbl. of water per day through perforations from 7,760 to 7,878 ft. The well produced 43.2 million cu. ft. of gas. The nearest producer is 2.5 miles northwest in Section 26-4n-10e. The #1-26 Edwards flowed at a rate of 1.06 million cu. ft. of gas and 127 bbl. of water daily from 7,812 to 9,831 ft.
7 GeoSurveys Inc., Abilene, Texas, permitted a wildcat in Roosevelt County, N.M. The #1 Mesa 26 State, Section 26-2n-29e, will be drilled to 7,200 ft. in the Montoya. The closest production is seven miles southwest in eastern De Baca County, N.M. The #1 Earl Spencer, Section 25-1n-28e, flowed 248,000 cu. ft. of gas daily from acid- and fracture-stimulated perforations in the Canyon from 6,457 to 6,753 ft.
8 Artesia, N.M.-based Mack Energy Corp. will drill a wildcat in central Eddy County, N.M. The #1 Robin Federal, Section 9-23s-25e, will be drilled to 11,500 ft. about eight miles west-southwest of the Carlsbad city limits. The closest production is a 10,397-ft. Sheep Draw Field well two miles east-southeast that flowed gas from the Upper Pennsylvanian and Strawn.
9 Kaiser-Francis Oil Co., Tulsa, Okla., will drill a 19,000-ft. exploratory test well in Wheeler County, Texas (RRC 10). The #1024 Zybach, Section 24, Block A-4, H&GN Survey, A-8655, will be drilled 2.5 miles northeast of Wheeler, Texas. Objectives of the well include Morrow, Mississippian, Hunton and Ordovician zones. The nearest productive well is a half-mile north in Silver Creek Field.
10 A 6,400-ft. wildcat will be drilled in Knox County, Texas, (RRC 9) by Medders Oil Co. Inc., Wichita Falls, Texas. The #1 Pitchfork Ellis, Section 53, Block B, H&TC Survey, A-291, will be a mile south of the Foard County line and the North Wichita River. The nearest well is 3.75 miles northwest in southern Foard County in Rocky Wall Field.
11 Halliburton Operating Co., Houston, completed a well in Kent County, Texas (RRC 8A). The #1 Melvina, Section 83, Block 1, H&GN Survey, A-47, is three miles south-southeast of Wild Turkey Field. The 6,632-ft. well produced 66 bbl. of 37-degree-gravity crude and 51 bbl. of water per day from perforations in the Tannehill from 4,270-84 ft. The #1 Arthur, Section 126, Block 1, H&GN Survey, A-1031, is the nearest producer some three miles north-northwest. The 4,500-ft. well was abandoned on an 80-acre lease.
12 A wildcat has been completed by Chi Operating Inc., Midland, Texas. The #1 Montgomery 7, Hockley County, Texas, (RRC 8A) Hood CSL Survey, A-149, produced at a daily rate of 130 bbl. of crude and 35 bbl. of water. The 8,050-ft. well was tested through acidized perforations from 7,100 to 7,244 ft. The nearest well is #1 Gillespie 14, which produces 25 bbl. of oil per day from acidized perforations from 6,902-34 ft.
13 Lometa Exploration Corp., Millican, Texas, will drill a 12,000-ft. well in Coryell County, Texas, (RRC 7B) John Houston Survey, A-490, on the southernmost flank of the Fort Worth Basin. The #1 Barnhill will be drilled three miles northeast of Gatesville. The #1 Young 1 is a mile north-northwest of the proposed location. This well was drilled to 8,463 ft. on a 949.77-acre lease in the same survey. Log tops included the Strawn to 2,373 ft., Barnett Shale to 5,738 ft. and Ellenburger at 5,794 ft.
14 A wildcat has been completed in Reeves County, Texas, (RRC 8) by Petro-Hunt LLC, Dallas. The #1 Block 59-35, Section 35, Block 59, PSL Survey, A-2670, is 10 miles northwest of Toyah. The 15,282-ft. well flowed at a rate of 213,000 cu. ft. of gas and 115 bbl. of water per day through perforations from 13,146 to 13,954 ft. on a 1-in. choke. A mile north from #1 Block 59-35 is #1 Adams State, Section 26, Block 59, PSL Survey, A-2673, that will be reentered to 11,993 ft. The 13,330-ft. well was tested flowing 1.18 million cu. ft. of gas per day through perforations in the Atoka from 11,810-33 ft.
15 Marshall & Winston Inc., Midland, Texas, will drill a wildcat in Terrell County, Texas (RRC 7C). The #2 Allison, Section 2, Block A4, H. P. Allison & Lee Merck Survey, A-2627, is 50 miles northeast of Sanderson. The 6,500-ft. wildcat is near #1 Allison. The closest producer is in Mesa Grande Field in Section 9. The #1-9 Allison is flowing at a rate of 510,000 cu. ft. of gas per day from the Strawn from 9,826 to 10,658 ft.
16 Newfield Exploration Co., Houston, will drill two wildcats in Edwards County, Texas (RRC 1) each 20 miles northwest of Rocksprings to 11,500 ft. The #1 Mayfield A is slated for a 1,398-acre lease in Section 188, CCSD&RGNG Survey, A-1772. The #1 Mayfield is to reach a total depth of 1,250 ft. on a 688.2-acre lease in the CCSD&RGNG Survey, A-767. The nearest producer is 1.5 miles southwest in Wardlaw Field. That well recovered 101,875 bbl. of crude, 1.46 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 16,405 bbl. of water, according to IHS Energy.
