1 Wichita, Kan.-based Pintail Petroleum Ltd. staked two 4,300-ft. wildcats on the Central Kansas Uplift about 10 miles southwest of Ellis, Kan., in Trego County. The #1-32 Maier "SC," in Section 32-14s-21w, is set to reach the Mississippian to test the Cherokee sand. The location is 1.5 miles southwest of the 21-well Sunny Slope Field. The largely abandoned field has recovered a total of 1.45 million bbl. of oil. 2 A well was completed by Larson Operating Co. Inc., Olmitz, Kan., 2.5 miles southwest of Dighton, Kan., in west-central Lane County. The #1-27 McWhirter "B," in Section 27-18s-29w produced an average 33 bbl. of oil daily. It went into production in November and, according to state figures, produced 4,127 bbl. in December. Total depth of the well is 4,618 ft. No completion details were available for the Dighton West Field opener. The closest previous producer is 1.5 miles northwest in Reifschneider Southeast Field. 3 Chesapeake Operating Inc., Oklahoma City, completed a northern Arkansas wildcat in White County flowing gas at a daily rate of 800,000 cu. ft. to 900,000 cu. ft. The #1-7 Ronny is in Section 7-8n-7w, 4.5 miles northwest of the town of Searcy. The 5,500-ft. well extended Fayetteville shale production eastward about 25 miles from the previous easternmost producer in New Quitman Field. Few additional completion details were available. 4 Seeco Inc., a unit of Houston-based Southwestern Energy, staked an eastern Arkoma Basin wildcat in northern Faulkner County just two miles southwest of Quitman, Ark. The #1-2-H Kessinger Trust, in Section 2-8n-12w, is set to reach a measured depth of 8,400 ft. and a true vertical depth of 4,675 ft. targeting the Fayetteville shale. The location is two miles west of #1-6 Sneed, a 5,625-ft. well in Quitman Field. During its first two months onstream the well produced 13.4 million cu. ft. of gas. 5 Dallas-based Encore Operating LP completed an exploratory test in northern Beaver County in the Oklahoma Panhandle. The #1-22 Hodges Family, in Section 22-6n-24ecm, six miles northeast of Forgan, initially flowed 3.97 million cu. ft. of gas and 15 bbl. of oil, with no water, per day, through fracture-treated perforations in the Morrow between 6,216-24 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 800 psi on a 12/64-in. choke. The #1 Leota, an abandoned Morrow producer, is 0.33-mile north. Completed more than 50 years ago, it recovered a total of 296 million cu. ft. of gas and 800 bbl. of oil during six years onstream, according to IHS Energy. 6 Chesapeake Operating Inc., Oklahoma City, completed a wildcat in southern Blaine County, Okla., 6.5 miles southwest of Greenfield. The #1-8 Barnett, in Section 8-14n-12w near a Springer pool discovered by the company last year, had an initial daily flowing potential of 1.74 million cu. ft. of gas and 168 bbl. of water. It was completed through fracture-treated perforations in the Atoka-Morrow between 10,893 and 11,002 ft. Total depth of the well is 11,440 ft. The wildcat is 0.75-mile northwest of #1-17 McClung. It was initially tested flowing 1.37 million cu. ft. of gas, seven bbl. of condensate and 30 bbl. of water daily through fracture-treated perforations between 11,109-14 ft. 7 Manzano Oil Corp., Roswell, N.M., staked a wildcat 15 miles south-southeast of the town of Elida, N.M., in southwestern Roosevelt County. The #1 Catherine Fee, in Section 6-7s-33e, is set to reach the Morrow at a total depth of 9,700 ft. The #2 Tucker is about 1.25 miles east-southeast in Tucker Ranch Field. Total production through 2005 for the closest well in that field is 48,860 bbl. of crude, 253.86 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 200 bbl. of water. 8 Artesia, N.M.-based Marbob Energy Corp. staked a Delaware Basin test about 14 miles south-southeast of Loving, N.M., in southeastern Eddy County, about seven miles north of the Texas border. The #1 D.A. Save "28," in Section 28-25s-29e, is set to reach the Bone Spring at a total depth of 9,500 ft. The #2 Corral Draw Unit is about a mile east-northeast in Corral Draw Field. Cumulative production totaled 132.8 million cu. ft. of gas, 1,525 bbl. of condensate and 2,519 bbl. of water. It was tested in 1975 and online until 1985. 9 Latigo Petroleum Inc., Tulsa, Okla., plans a western Anadarko Basin well almost 17 miles east-northeast of the town of Stinnett, Texas, in Hutchinson County (RRC 10). The #1216 Turkey Track, in Section 16, Block E, H&GN Survey, A-958, in Shire Field, is set to reach a total depth of 9,800 ft. and has a primary objective of the Ordovician Simpson. According to IHS Energy, the pool has produced 676,000 bbl. of oil, 919 million cu. ft. of gas and 94,000 bbl. of water from eight wells tapping a Granite Wash reservoir at approximately 6,700 ft. The #1-64 Coble is 0.66-mile northwest. During its first two years online, the Shire Field opener recovered 47,000 bbl. of oil and 9 million cu. ft. of gas. 10 Houston-based Noble Energy Production Inc. permitted an exploratory test in southeastern Wheeler County (RRC 10) around six miles southeast of the town of Wheeler, Texas. The #3014 Hale, in Section 30, Block A-8, H&GN Survey, A-8308, is set to reach a total depth of 10,000 ft. to test the Granite Wash. The Pitcock Field opener is 1.5 miles southeast. That well produced a total of 9,400 bbl. of oil and 7,500 bbl. of water as the field's only well before being abandoned in 1997. 11 Texakoma Exploration & Production LLC, Dallas, completed a horizontal North Texas wildcat, about six miles south-southeast of Quanah in Hardeman County (RRC 9). The #1H Watson "133," in Section 133, Block H, W&NW Survey, A-438, was tested through acid-treated perforations in the Atoka Conglomerate between 7,356 and 7,527 ft. Total depth of the well is 9,097 ft. with a true vertical depth of 8,444 ft. The location is more than 0.33-mile west of a Chappel well in Stepp Field. The #1 Stepp "110" yielded a total 814,664 bbl. of oil and 30.8 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas through the end of 2005. 12 Camarillo, Calif.-based Bankers Petroleum U.S. Inc. staked a wildcat in southern Floyd County, Texas, (RRC 8A) more than 2.5 miles west of the town of Floydada. The #1 Stansell, in Section 26, Block G, ACH&B (W. E. Buckley) Survey, A-1450, in the southern flank of the Palo-Duro Basin is the company's third test in the county. The #1 W.D. Miller is nearly eight miles southwest of the new site. The 9,823-ft. well flowed 71 bbl. of crude, 258,000 cu. ft. of gas and 46 bbl. of water per day through acid- and fracture-treated perforations between 8,862 and 9,002 ft., according to IHS Energy. 13 Harding Co., Dallas, brought in two Bend Arch discoveries about four miles south-southwest of Gustine, Texas, in southeastern Comanche County (RRC 7B). The #1 Patton is in the Alex Matthews Survey, A-657, and #1 Steward is almost a mile west-southwest in the Thomas Y. Gilbert Survey, A-383. Some 1.33 miles east-southeast of #1 Patton, the #1 Amber F. Craddock was abandoned in 1985 after it was unsuccessfully tested in the Marble Falls and Duffer through perforations between 3,100 and 3,214 ft. 14 Midland, Texas-independent Draco Energy Inc. completed a northern Reeves County (RRC 8) Delaware Basin wildcat more than two miles east-southeast of Orla, Texas, three miles west of the Loving County line. The #1 Trinity State "28," in Section 28, Block 56, T2, T&P Survey, A-2214, was tested flowing at a daily rate 55 bbl. of oil, 34,000 cu. ft. of gas and 166 bbl. of water from acid- and fracture-treated perforations in the Ramsey Sand between 3,227-44 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 80 psi on a 24/64-in. choke. Some 1.33-mile east-northeast in the same section is #1 Northrup "A" Estate in Tunstill Field. The well has recovered a total of 16,482 bbl. of crude, 134,000 cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 149,616 bbl. of water. 15 Riata Energy Inc., Amarillo, Texas, completed a West Texas producer in the Elsinore West Farm Field area of western Pecos County (RRC 8) in the Delaware Basin. The #701 La Escalera "A," in Section 7, Block A, GC&SF Survey, A-2815, was tested flowing at a daily rate of 1.479 million cu. ft. of gas from perforations between 2,453-44 ft. in the shallow Castile. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 353 psi on a 26/64-in. choke. The 4,518-ft. well is about 25 miles southwest of Fort Stockton. The nearest production is in the same field less than 0.25-mile northeast in the same section. The #56 Elsinore Royalty Co. has a cumulative production of 542.81 million cu. ft. of gas and 842 bbl. of water. 16 Houston-based Dominion Exploration & Production Inc. staked a Val Verde Basin wildcat in northern Edwards County (RRC 1) almost five miles south of the Sutton County line. The #506E Canyon Ranch, in Section 5, GC&SF RR Co Survey, A-847, is set to reach a total depth of 7,550 ft. in Ellenburger. The nearest producer is 10 miles north-northwest in Fawcett Field. The #12 Pfluger "104" posted a cumulative production of 385.32 million cu. ft. of gas and 860 bbl. of condensate through perforations in the Wolfcamp between 2,710-50 ft. Total depth of the well is 5,555 ft.
