1 Lario Oil & Gas Co., Wichita, Kan., adds a new wildcat to its remote exploration program in western Gove County, Kan. The #1-10 Stevenson Trust is in Section 10-13s-31w in a non-producing township 13 miles south-southeast of Oakley. The projected depth of the well is 4,800 ft. and its principal objectives include Lansing, Cherokee and Mississippian. The nearest production is 3.5 miles northwest, Logo Field, Lario's 2006 discovery.



2 Roadrunner Energy Inc., Tulsa, Okla., will drill a wildcat in the Nemaha Uplift 2.5 miles south of Arkansas, Kan. near the Oklahoma border. The #1 Fulsom, in Section 18-35s-4e in southwestern Cowley County, will reach a projected depth of 3,450 ft. to evaluate Red Fork and Bartlesville sands and Mississippian. The proposed site is one mile from the western flank of McKay Field that has produced 1.62 million bbl. of oil almost entirely from a Bartlesville reservoir located at 3,300 ft. The nearest Mississippian production is two miles east-northeast in Copeland Field, originally Pudden Field. Chilocco Field produces from Red Fork one to two miles south.



3 Penn Virginia MC Operating LLC, Tulsa, Okla., will drill a horizontal Fayetteville wildcat one mile east of Hector, Ark., in the northern portion of Arkoma Basin. The #2-31H Coffman in Section 31-10n-18w, Pope County, will terminate its southeast lateral at a depth of 6,586 ft. with a true vertical depth of about 3,625 ft. Two of the company's previous horizontal wildcats, #1-34H Garrigus in Section 34-10n-19w and #1-33H Tackett in Section 33-10n-19w, both began gas sales in March. They are approximately three to four miles west-southwest. Pope County also hosts a recent discovery by Southwestern Energy unit Seeco Inc., Fayetteville, Ark., more than three miles south-southeast of the aforementioned wildcat. The #1-17H Ringer 09-18 in Section 17-9n-18w flowed 489,000 cu. ft. of gas during initial tests at Fayetteville intervals between 3,640 and 5,601 ft. in a northwest lateral. The total depth of the well is 5,730 ft. with a true vertical depth of 3,536 ft., IHS Inc. reports.



4 Seeco Inc. completed a Pennsylvanian discovery with an initial flow rate of 3.84 million cu. ft. a day about one mile east of Quitman in northern Arkansas. The #1-32H Arklan 9-11 in Section 32-9n-11w, southwestern Cleburne County, was tested in a northwestern trending Middle Hale channel sand at approximately 3,200 ft. SEECO encountered the reservoir while drilling a vertical pilot hole for a horizontal test and was reported to have a wellhead shut-in pressure of 1,443 psi. The Arkoma Basin discovery is .75 miles from two inactive Pennsylvanian wells in Quitman Field. The closest Fayetteville producer is New Quitman Field more than a mile west.



5 Chesapeake Operating Inc., Oklahoma City, will drill #1-12 Lamar wildcat to a depth of 21,000 ft. three miles southeast of Sayre in Beckham County, Okla., in western Anadarko Basin. The well is in Section 12-9n-23w and will evaluate potential pays in Wolfcamp, Virgil, Missouri, Atoka and Chester, Mississippi lime, Woodford, Hunton and Sylvan below 20,345 ft. The Des Moines, Morrow and Springer were not listed as objectives. The nearest production is 1.25 miles northeast on the northwestern end of Carter North Field in Section 6-9n-22w. An additional one-well pool, Sayre East Field opener, is 1.5 miles northwest.



6 EOG Resources Inc., Houston, plans to drill a horizontal wildcat in western Hughes County, Okla. The 26 #1 Stover is in Section 26-6n-8e, 2.5 miles north of Allen. As a Woodford extension, the well is designed as a test with a true vertical depth of 4,764 ft. The southern flank of Holdenville Field, a multi-play pool from the early 1900s, is .75 miles west. As of last December, the cumulative production for this field was 99.8 million bbl. of oil and 38.4 billion cu. ft. of gas. The current site is five miles southeast of Holdenville Field's only Woodford pool. The closest confirmed Woodford production is a gas discovery completed last year, 12 miles to the southeast.



7 Eddy County, in southeast New Mexico, is host to two new discoveries. In north Eddy County, Colorado-based Cima­rex Energy Co. completed #1 Crow Flats 16 State Com in Section 16-16s-28e. The Atoka gas discovery tested with initial flow rates of 913,000 cu. ft. of gas, 7 bbl. of condensate and 7 bbl. of water a day from perforations from 9,104-19 ft. The well's flowing tubing pressure was measured at 220 psi on a 30/64-in. choke. The nearest production is .75 miles northwest where Diamond Field produces from Marrow. The nearest Atoka wells are 1.5 miles north-northeast.

Meanwhile, a Strawn discovery was completed in central Eddy County by Mack Energy Corp., Artesia, N.M. The #1 Robin Federal, in Section 9-23s-25e, was drilled to a total depth of 11,300 ft. The well tested at 1,880 psi on an 11/64-in. choke and flowed 1,072,000 cu. ft. of gas and 188 bbl. of oil a day from Strawn perforations at 9,029-64 ft. Sheep Draw Field produces from Pennsylvanian more than two miles east-southeast and Morrow recovery is more than two miles west, in Rock Tank Field.



8 Chi Operating, Midland, Texas, will drill #1 Salado Federal in Section 8-26s-34e 18 miles west-southwest of Jal in southern Lea County, N.M. The wildcat is projected for a total depth of 5,550 ft. with the Delaware as its main objective. The nearest Wolfcamp production is 1.66 miles northwest at Salado Draw Northeast Field. Two miles south-southwest is #1 Bradley Federal 19, completed in 1958, which cumulatively produced 11,329 bbl. of crude from Delaware.



9 Courson Oil & Gas Inc., Perryton, Texas, plans to drill a deep wildcat in southern Ochiltree County, Texas (RRC 10), about 21 miles south of Perryton. The #145 Wilson is in Section 45, Block 43, H&TC Survey, A-134, and has a projected depth of 12,750 ft. with objectives to test formations through Hunton. The well is near Dutcher and Lips Fields where wells produce from the Cleveland at about 6,900 ft. and Upper Morrow at 9,000 ft. The projected site is 4.5 miles north of the closest Hunton production, IHS Inc. reports.



10 Gunn Oil Co., Wichita Falls, Texas, will drill #1 Beggs HS to a projected depth of 5,000 ft. in Section 3, Block H, HT&B RR Co. Survey, A-151, in the northeastern corner of Kent County (RRC Dist. 8A). The projected site is eight miles north of Jayton, Texas, and the nearest production is more than three miles east-southeast in Hot Springs Field. There, wells produce from Stockwether and Tannehill.



11 CDX Gas LLC, Dallas, completed a horizontal Barnett Shale well in northeastern Eastland County, Texas (RRC Dist. 7B). The #1H Pilot was the first of five test wells drilled by CDX. It was tested on a 35/64-in. choke and gauged at 390 psi flowing tubing pressure. Initially, the well flowed 1.24 million cu. ft. of gas, 1 bbl. of condensate and 218 bbl. a day from perforations at 3,760 to 5,706 ft. and is drilled to total depth of 5,779 ft. in Hiram Peace Survey, A-401.



12 Patton Exploration Inc., Abilene, Texas, will drill #1 Double Seven in Section 77, Block 5, T&P RR Co. Survey, A-239, in eastern Nolan County, Texas (RRC Dist. 7B) five miles northeast of Nolan. The well has a projected depth of 4,900 ft. and will be drilled on the western flank of Bend Arch. Mulberry Canyon Field, more than a mile east, is the nearest production..



13 Pogo Producing Co., Houston, completed #1 Woodward State about 10 miles north-northwest of Iraan in Section 1, Block TM, T.J. Murphy Survey, A-5541, in northwestern Crockett County, Texas (RRC Dist. 7C). The Strawn discovery tested pumping 56 bbl. of 40.6-degree oil with 22,000 cu. ft. of gas and 141 bbl. of water a day. The Strawn perforations were from 6,662-68 ft. The well was drilled to total depth of 8,600 ft. to target the Ellenburger with Wolfcamp and Pennsylvanian Bend as shallower objectives. The nearest production is 2.67 miles southeast in Bouscaren Field that has produced 921,476 bbl. of oil, 614.4 million cu. ft. of gas and 461,175 bbl. of water from Wolfcamp, Pennsylvanian and Ellenburger since 1974.



14 Dallas-based PanAmerican Operating Inc. completed a Morris discovery in central Runnels County, Texas (RRC Dist. 7C). The #1 Waller is in Ballinger West Field five miles north of Ballinger, Thomas T. Williamson Survey, A-259, and was drilled to total depth of 4,150 ft. Its flow was tested at 70 bbl. of 40-degree oil, 500,000 cu. ft. of gas and 10 bbl. of water a day through perforations at 3,582 to 3,612 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was measured on a 15/64-in. choke at 700 psi. The current discovery is in close proximity to one of PanAmerica's previous completions, #1 Gary in Ballinger West Field .25 miles west.



15 Oilfield Management Inc., Midland, Texas, completed #1 University 6-47 20 miles northeast of Andrews in Midland Basin in northeastern Andrews County, Texas (RRC Dist. 8). The wildcat tested at a flow of 78 bbl. of 45-degree crude, 79,000 cu. ft. of gas and 3 bbl. of water daily from Wolfcamp perforations from 9,961-74 ft. with 100 psi of flowing tubing pressure on a 31/64-in. choke.



16 Trail Mountain Inc., Artesia, N.M., added five new locations to its exploration program on Diablo Platform in northern Hudspeth County (RRC Dist. 8). The #1H University Ranger C50 in Section 50, Block C, University Lands Survey, is 25 miles west-southwest of Dell City and is the first horizontal test permitted by the operator. It is projected to reach total depth of 5,800 ft. The company completed a workover .33 miles southwest that recovered 19.28 million cu. ft. of gas and 409 bbl. of condensate between February and June of 2006. Although there are few available details about this discovery, it appears to be the first commercial producer in Hudspeth County, IHS Inc. reports.
