2 Vincent Oil Corp., Wichita, Kan., staked a wildcat 0.5 miles northeast of Inman, Kansas, in a non-producing township in southwestern McPherson County. The 1-10 Neufeldt in Section 10-21s-4w will be drilled to a depth of 3,950 ft. in the Arbuckle. The nearest production to the proposed site is more than four miles north in the inactive Groveland South Field, discovered in 1953 and abandoned in 1982, with cumulative production of 748,000 bbl. of crude. Active production occurs in Voshell Field five miles east. Since its discovery in 1929 this field has produced 36.6 million bbl. of oil from pays in the Mississippian, Kinderhook, Hunton, Viola, Simpson, Wilcox and Arbuckle.
3 EOG Resources Inc., Houston, staked a 5,700-ft. wildcat targeting Pennsylvanian and Mississippian zones on the Hugoton Embayment 3.5 miles north-northeast of Ulysses in southwestern Kansas. The 1-2 Adrienne in Section 2-28s-37w, northern Grant County, will evaluate Atoka, Morrow, Chester and St. Louis. The nearest pre-Permian production is four miles south-southeast in RR Bend Field, abandoned in 1999 after producing 27,533 bbl. of oil and condensate and 1.1 billion cu. ft. of gas, reports IHS Inc.
4 XTO Energy Inc., Fort Worth, Texas, plans to drill a horizontal wildcat in an undrilled township in northeastern Arkoma Basin 7.5 miles west of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas. The 1-29H Grammer will be drilled northwestward from a surface location in Section 29-11n-7w, southwestern Independence County. The Fayetteville test, although not yet permitted, will have measured and true vertical depths of 4,600 ft. and 3,400 ft. The proposed site is 13 miles southwest of the most recent six wildcats drilled in the non-producing county. A possible discovery occurred in neighboring Cleburne County 3.5 miles west-southwest where the 1-24-H Green Bay Packaging, in Section 34-11n-8w, reached total depth at 4,908 ft. and has been perforated and fracture-stimulated between 2,805 and 4,771 ft. While reports in the area indicate the prospect is a discovery, the operator has not disclosed test results.
5 Seeco Inc., Fayetteville, Ark., scheduled a 10,000-ft. wildcat to evaluate the Pennsylvanian through the Borum four miles south-southeast of Subiaco, Ark. The 2-31 Churchman in Section 31-7n-24w, eastern Logan County, is two miles south of the closest producer on the eastern flank of its Rich Mountain Field. The 1-19 Ward was completed last fall in the Basham and Upper Borum at 3,248 to 3,262 ft. and 4,838 to 4,858 ft. respectively, flowing 2.02 million cu. ft. of gas daily after fracture treatment. The site is a west offset to an 8,750-ft. Borum wildcat staked by the company in April where no activity has been reported.
6 Unit Petroleum Co., Tulsa, Okla., completed a high-volume gas producer near Panola Field 2.5 miles northeast of Wilburton in Latimer County, Okla. The 1 Jankowsky Trust in Section 32-6n-20e was perforated in Spiro at 14,074 to 14,090 ft. and tested on a 32/64-inch choke flowing 23.8 million cu. ft. of gas a day with flowing tubing pressure of 3,600 psi. The nearest Panola Field well, 0.5 miles southeast, was completed in September 2005, according to IHS Inc.
7 Cimarron Engineering Inc. (CEI), Tulsa, Okla., completed an exploratory test on the Anadarko BasinÕs northern shelf in northwestern Oklahoma. The 1 Ganes 29 in Section 29-26n-19w, northern Woodward County, produced more than 213.5 million cu. ft. of gas flowing at an average rate of 6.89 million cu. ft. a day from Morrow sand, according to state figures. The discovery is offset by dry holes north and east and by a saltwater disposal well to the south. The company has completed two other Morrow producers in the township, including the 1 Nixon 19 1.5 miles northwest and the 1 Selman 32 slightly east one mile south.
8 Parallel Petroleum Corp., Midland, Texas, completed a horizontal discovery in southern Chaves County 3.5 miles northwest of Lake Arthur, N.M. The 1 War Cloud State Com 1425-36 in Section 36-14s-25e flowed 2.8 million cu. ft. of gas and 318 bbl. of water a day from Wolfcamp perforations at 5,490 to 9,162 ft. Flowing casing pressure was 350 psi on a 48/64-inch choke. Parallel is conducting an extensive horizontal Wolfcamp program two miles east. The nearest production comes from the one-well Greenfield South Field and the five-well Lake Arthur Field.
9 Nearburg Producing Co., Midland, Texas, scheduled a Morrow wildcat in the western portion of Eddy County, N.M. The 1 Buzzard Canyon 13 Federal is in Section 13-20s-21e 15 miles south of Hope. The site is 1.67 miles north of Little Box Canyon Field, a Pennsylvanian pool that produces primarily from Morrow. Since 1977, the field has yielded 77.4 billion cu. ft. of gas, 222,701 bbl. of condensate and 1.4 million bbl. of water. Other Pennsylvanian producers nearby include Strychnine Draw Field and Indian Loafer Draw Field, reports IHS Inc.
10 Holmes Exploration Inc., Tulsa, Okla., completed a western Anadarko Basin exploratory test as a Middle Morrow discovery. The 1V Reckless 1028 is in Section 1028, Block 43, H&TC Survey, A-1261, 4.5 miles south of Booker, Texas, in northwestern Lipscomb County (RRC 10). The well was perforated in the Middle Morrow at 9,055 to 9,062 ft. and flowed 4.83 million cu. ft. of gas with 8 bbl. of water a day. Production was gauged on 24/64-inch choke with a flowing tubing pressure of 1,438 psi. The site is offset to the north by an abandoned well on the western flank of Lear Field which produced 11,000 bbl. of oil and 17.5 million cu. ft. of gas from Marmaton from 1985 through 1991.
11 Dry Fork Production Co. LLC, Wichita Falls, Texas, scheduled a North Texas wildcat in northwestern Hardeman County (RRC 9). The 1 Bar JR Bar will drill to a depth of 8,500 ft. in Section 265, Block H, W&NW RR Co. Survey, A-404, about 10 miles northwest of Quanah, Texas. The site will target oil in the Pennsylvanian Conglomerate or Mississippian. The nearest recovery is almost two miles southeast in Hugh Field. Miles Field, an abandoned Palo Pinto oil pool, is northeast of the site, and Frontier Field, a one-well Mississippian pool, is southeast.
12 Wadi Petroleum Inc., Houston, will drill a Clear Fork wildcat 1.5 miles east of the Texas-New Mexico border. The 1 Jones Estate 14 will drill to total depth of 8,200 ft. in Section 14, Block A7, PSL Survey, A-602, northwestern Gaines County, Texas (RRC 8A). The 360-acre lease is located 12 miles west-southwest of Denver City, Texas, and the nearest production is 1.25 miles east-southeast in adjacent Section 15 in Ezralow Field. Additional Clear Fork recovery comes from nearby Tex-Pac and Garrett East Fields, reports IHS Inc.
13 CDX Gas LLC, Dallas, completed a Barnett Shale discovery in northeastern Eastland County, Texas (RRC 7B). The 1H Pilot tested flowing 1.2 million cu. ft. of gas, 1 bbl. of condensate and 218 bbl. of water a day from perforations at 3,760 to 5,706 ft. The flowing pressure was gauged at 390 psi on 35/64-inch choke. The well bottomed at 5,779 ft. in Hiram Peace Survey, A-401.ÊCurrent Barnett Shale production is five miles northeast. There are six Barnett Shale wells in Rector Field that produce primarily from Marble Falls.
14 LeClair Operating Co. Inc., Abilene, Texas, staked a 2,000-ft. wildcat in eastern Menard County (RRC 7C) more than eight miles east of Menard, Texas. The 1 Malory is in Section 22, I RR Co. Survey, A-1712 with possible targets of Cross Cut as part of Bar-F Field or Cisco as part of Callan Field. The nearest well in Bar-F Field is more than six miles northwest. Callan Field is an additional 2.5 miles northwest.
15 MLC Operating LP, Houston, plans to drill a 7,800-ft. wildcat on its 638.84-acre lease to target Wolfcamp. The 0113 Salewsky State is in Section 13, Block 604, Mrs. A.N. Dunman Survey, A-9005, Pecos County (RRC 8), less than 25 miles south-southwest of McCamey. The nearest previous producer is two miles northwest in McKenzie Mesa Field. The operator is drilling another 11,000-ft. wildcat almost five miles east-southeast. The nearest Wolfcamp producer is 2.5 miles north-northwest, according to IHS Inc.
16 Gunn Oil Co., Wichita Falls, Texas, is drilling a wildcat in the eastern half of Bandera County (RRC 1), an area with only one producing well. The only previous activity in the Holly Arnold Survey is two miles northeast, where the 1 Arnold was abandoned at total depth of 700 ft. in 1958. The nearest producer in the county is eight miles northwest in the one-well Manzanas Field, which has recovered 25,850 bbl. of crude and 8,622 bbl. of water from Ellenburger at 4,272 to 4,388 ft. since its opening in 1995.
