Norwegian oil and gas operator DNO ASA has discovered gas condensate on the Cuvette prospect in the Norwegian North Sea licenses PL248F and PL248GS.
Preliminary evaluations found gross recoverable resources above predrill estimates ranging from 16 MMboe to 8 MMboe at a mean of 25 MMboe. Over half of the resources were found in the Middle Jurassic primary target and the balance in the Upper Jurassic secondary target.
Cuvette is the second well in DNO’s 2024 North Sea exploration program. Earlier this year, the Heisenberg well was appraised.
Cuvette is DNO’s eighth discovery since 2021 in the areas surrounding the Troll and Gjøa production hubs.
Besides Cuvette and Heisenberg, other discoveries in the area since 2021 include Røver Nord, Kveikje, Ofelia, Røver Sør, Carmen and Kyrre—all of which are close to infrastructure with routes to commercialization.
DNO’s wholly-owned subsidiary DNO Norge AS holds a 20% interest in the PL248F and PL248GS licenses. Wintershall Dea Norge AS is the operator of the licenses, as well as the nearby Vega field tied back to Gjøa.
“We are racking up discovery after discovery close to existing gathering and processing infrastructure. Our challenge now is to inject the Norwegian oil sector with a large dose of entrepreneurialism to bring a sense of urgency to partners, infrastructure hosts and regulatory bodies in helping bring our and other discoveries to market,” said DNO Executive Chairman Bijan Mossavar-Rahmani in the press release.
