Louisiana-based NuQuest Energy is extending its origination efforts to the SERC Reliability Corp. and Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) markets where it is pursuing solar and energy storage projects, the company said Sept. 5.

The expansion news from the early-stage renewables energy developer came as the company said it submitted 800 megawatts of utility-scale solar and wind projects to Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) queue in April. NuQuest submitted six projects totaling 1 gigawatt to the MISO queue in 2022.

“This achievement showcases our team’s talents and validates our approach to prospect generation,” NuQuest Energy’s co-Founder Alex Guitart said in a news release. “We are looking forward to continued growth through the expansion of our origination efforts into the ERCOT and SERC markets.”

NuQuest, which utilizes a proprietary system called TerraVolt for renewable energy site selections, said it is actively developing a portfolio more than 40 utility-scale renewable energy projects.

The company is pursuing more than 1 GW of standalone battery energy storage and solar hybrid projects, added Andrew Makee, NuQuest’s vice president of development.

“Our leadership team’s background and experience in the oil and gas industry uniquely position us to navigate the competitive ERCOT landscape,” Makee said.
