Midcontinent and Permian Basin
1 A horizontal Wolfcamp producer in the southeastern Chaves County portion of the Permian Basin’s Northwestern Shelf was completed by Yates Petroleum Corp. of Artesia, N.M. The #1H Ninja BMN State Com is west of Lovington, N.M. It pumped oil at the daily rate of 354 bbl., with 163,000 cu. ft. of gas and 190 bbl. of water per day. Drilled to 13,050 ft. in Section 11-15s-31e, the true vertical depth is 8,445 ft. Yates has staked two additional horizontal Abo-Wolfcamp tests in the area, both in Lea County, N.M.
2 Chesapeake Operating Inc. completed a horizontal Bone Spring oil well in the western Winkler County (RRC Dist. 8), Texas, portion of the Delaware Basin. Chesapeake’s #1H Kerr State 28-35 flowed 476 bbl. of 43.8-degree crude, 497,000 cu. ft. of gas and 1,524 bbl. of water through an acid- and fracture-treated interval in Bone Spring at 10,990-16,068 ft., total depth. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 1,100 psi on an 18/64-in. choke. The Two Georges Field well has a true vertical depth of 11,808 ft. and was drilled in Section 35, Block 28, J.G. Brown Survey, A-1242.
3 A 12,205-ft. western Anadarko Basin exploratory test by Edmond, Okla.-based Blue Dolphin Production LLC is producing from Arbuckle. The #1 Thomas was drilled in Section 62, Block A-6, H&GN Survey, A-1017, northeastern Gray County (RRC Dist. 10), Texas. The producer flowed 1.45 million cu. ft. of gas, 24 bbl. of 58-gravity condensate, and 720 bbl. of water daily from five acidized and fracture-treated intervals (83 net perforated ft.) between 11,725 and 11,943 ft. With shut-in tubing pressure of 3,213 psi and flowing tubing pressure of 662 psi on a 32/64-in. choke, absolute openflow was calculated at 1.47 million cu. ft. of gas per day. Log tops include Douglas Granite Wash at 6,795 ft.; Des Moines Granite Wash, 7,487 ft.; Viola, 10,712 ft.; Simpson sand, 11,096 ft.; and Ellenburger at 11,444 ft.
4 Tulsa-based Sanguine Gas Exploration LLC reported an initial flow rate of 543 bbl. of 44-degree-gravity oil, 926,000 cu. ft. of gas and 375 bbl. of water per day at a western Anadarko Basin development test in Wheeler County (RRC Dist. 10), Texas. The 11,583-ft. well, #505 Sallie, is in Section 5, Block L, J.M. Lindsay Survey, A-462. Production is from fracture-stimulated and acidized intervals of the Cottage Grove sand at 10,396-10,444 ft. and the Marmaton at 11,042-11,242 ft. Flowing casing pressure was 300 psi on a 30/64-in. choke.
5 Northwest of Laredo, Laredo Energy LLC of Tulsa completed a horizontal test in Santo Tomas Field in the Webb County (RRC Dist. 4), Texas. The completion, #1 Rosa V. Benavides, flowed 2.01 million cu. ft. of gas and 274 bbl. of water per day through fracture-treated perforations at 6,130-9,037 ft. in Escondido. On a 22/64-in. choke, flowing and shut-in tubing pressures were 1,180 psi and 2,000 psi, respectively. Absolute openflow was calculated at 3.06 million cu. ft. per day. The new producer was drilled to a total depth of 9,135 ft. and plugged back to 9,112 ft. in Section 1450, Antonio Gonzales Survey, A-57. The well offsets the #2 Rosa V. Benavides to the southwest in the same section, although additional well details are unavailable. Laredo has permitted another 12,000-ft. horizontal Wilcox test two miles to the south-southeast.
6 A Central Kansas Uplift discovery is reported at a delineation test by Denver-based Flatirons Resources LLC. The #31-15 Rush Trust is in Section 15-6s-22w of Graham County, Kans., and was completed in an acidized Lansing-Kansas City zone at 3,784-97 ft. pumping 66 bbl. of 38-degree-gravity oil with 40 bbl. of water per day. Log tops reported at the site are Lansing at 3,582 ft. and Arbuckle at 3,938 ft. Total depth is 4,075 ft. Flatirons’ discovery is about half a mile east and southeast of Lansing-Kansas City producers in Springbird Field.
7 Oxford, Kans., independent W.D. Short Oil Co. LLC completed a 100-bbl.-per-day oil producer on the Nemaha Uplift about two miles southeast of Oxford, Kans. The #3C Carson is in Section 19-32s-3e of Cowley County and produces from Arbuckle perforations at 3,416-18 ft. No water production was reported at the 3,500-ft. well. Slick-Carson Field was discovered in 1924 and produced 4.5 million bbl. primarily from Arbuckle, with secondary pays in Layton and Bartlesville.
8 Chesapeake Operating Inc. of Oklahoma City recorded an initial flow rate of 8.03 million cu. ft. of gas, 89 bbl. of condensate and 17 bbl. of water per day. The southeastern Anadarko Basin prospect in Section 36-6n-9w near Cement, Okla., #3-36 State, produces from two fractured Springer intervals perforated at 15,128-38 ft. and 15,236-46 ft. The Caddo County well had 4,699-psi flowing tubing pressure on a 64/64-in. choke. Before completion, Chesapeake production-tested two Morrow intervals at 14,836-56 ft. and 14,930-36 ft., but squeezed off those zones after fracture stimulation. IHS Inc. notes formation tops for Rowe at 7,575 ft.; Wade, 9,134 ft.; Deese, 12,719 ft; Morrow, 14,424 ft.; and Springer at 15,116 ft. Bottomhole depth is 15,550.ft.
9 A Barnett shale producer was reported by Roil Mineral & Land Co. in Bellevue Field, Montague County (RRC Dist. 9), Texas. The Dallas-based operator tested #1 Clark flowing 67 bbl. of 45-degree oil, 141,000 cu. ft. of gas, and 60 bbl. of water per day from acid- and fracture-treated perforations at 6,540-6,720 ft. in the Barnett. Flowing tubing pressure was 155 psi on an 18/64-in. choke and the well was drilled to 7,291 ft. on a 77-acre lease in Section 2837, TE&L Co Survey, A-775. Log tops include Barnett shale at 6,470 ft., Viola at 6,745 ft. and Ellenburger at 6,920 ft.
10 EOG Resources of Houston completed a vertical Barnett shale well in southwestern Cooke County (RRC Dist. 9), Texas. The #1 Stephenson was tested for an initial daily potential of 58 bbl. of 42.5-degree oil, 203,000 cu. ft. of gas and 4 bbl. of water through acid- and fracture-stimulated perforations at 8,734-86 ft. The 9,300-ft. well is on a 341.27-acre Fort Worth Basin lease in Section 18, SP RR Co. Survey, A-1611. IHS Inc. reports log tops for Atoka at 5,770 ft., Caddo at 7,065 ft. and Barnett shale at 7,885 ft.
11 North of Oklahoma City, Petrohawk Operating Co. of Houston reported an initial pump rate of 330 bbl. of 40-degree-gravity oil, 209,000 cu. ft. of gas and 431 bbl. of water per day at a horizontal well. The company’s #4-4H Blair Farms, in Section 4-14n-4w, Oklahoma County, produces from two open-hole laterals drilled to bottomhole locations to the west. One leg was drilled to 8,238 ft. and terminates in Section 5-14n-4w (true vertical depth, 6,722 ft.). The second leg is a 10,050-ft. lateral (true vertical depth, 6,712 ft.) that ends in Section 5. Additional production details are not available.
12 A Stephens Production Co. well, #1-16 Fort, flowed 1.69 million cu. ft. of gas daily at the second workover of an Arkoma Basin well in Section 16-7n-31w in Sebastian County, Ark. The gas well was originally completed in 2000 and produced gas at an unreported rate from Middle Hale at 7,388-7,422 ft. A second reentry by Fort Smith, Ark.-based Stephens in 2005 added perforations at 8,058-8,104 ft. in Penters. During the latest reentry, the company added perforations in Lower Carpenter below 3,703 ft. and tested the well producing commingled gas with the Middle Hale. Prior to the new operation, the 8,221-ft. well had recovered 2.38 billion cu. ft. of gas and was averaging approximately 295,000 cu. ft. daily.
