Petrobras awarded Subsea 7 with a contract for the development of the Búzios 9 field offshore Brazil, Subsea 7 announced May 29.

Located 180 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, in water depths of 2,000 m, the field is the ninth out of 11 total developments planned at the massive Buzios field.

The scope of the contract, which is valued at over $1.25 billion, includes the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and pre-commissioning of 102 km of rigid risers and flowlines for the steel lazy wave production system.

Project management and engineering will take place at Subsea 7’s offices in Rio de Janeiro and Paris, while fabrication of the pipelines will take place at Subsea 7’s spoolbase in Espirito Santo, Brazil.

Offshore operations are scheduled to be begin in 2026 and 2027.
