its FRX-1 ATEX portable radio repeater. The lightweight repeater increases radio coverage both on and offshore by eliminating radio “black spots” that often interrupt the flow of radio communications. The system improves reliability by essentially bending the radio signal around a solid structure to reach its target destination. The system’s RF section has both EU and FCC approval, so it can be used in North America, Europe and most oil-producing regions. The radio operates on VHF, marine and UHF frequencies, which makes it compatible with existing radio communications systems currently in use offshore. The unit is lightweight and compact for easy use and positioning on platforms, rigs and floating production, storage and offloading vessel and has up to 18 hours of battery life between charges.
