ABS was awarded classification by Seatrium for newbuild FPSOs to be delivered to Petrobras.
Platforms P-84 and P-85 are the first FPSOs to be awarded following ABS and Seatrium’s technology collaboration agreement, that will promote increased decarbonization, digitalization and innovation in the offshore industry, ABS announced in a June 12 press release.
Both FPSOs will incorporate technologies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Features will include zero routine flaring and venting, variable speed drives and measures to control emissions and capture CO2, to achieve a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions intensity.
The platforms will be deployed in the Atapu and Sépia fields, in the eastern part of the Santos Basin, 200 km offshore Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
