SLB is launching a new generative AI platform for access to subsurface, surface, planning and operations data in workflows across the energy value chain.
The Lumi data and AI platform is an open and secure modular platform meant to improve decision making at an enterprise level. Lumi will contextualize data for SLB’s customers across global domains to allow them to scale AI workflows, said Rakesh Jaggi, SLB’s president of digital and integration, in the company’s Sept. 17 press release.
Large language models and domain foundation models from SLB are embedded in the platform, and customers will be able to add and train industry-specific traditional and generative AI models.
The platform’s launch comes at a time of ongoing digital transformation, Jaggi said.
“AI is fundamentally altering the dynamics of our industry, but its transformational potential is hindered by the complexity of our industry’s data ecosystems,” Jaggi said.
Lumi joins SLB’s Delfi digital platform, and its data foundations and machine learning capabilities will be used to enable better reservoir modeling, seismic and wellbore interpretation, directional drilling and geosteering workflows, the press release said.
The platform will be available on all major cloud service providers and on premises.
