SolarBank Corp. announced new plans to develop a 3.1-megawatt (MW) solar project in Nova Scotia, Canada, in a Nov. 5 press release.

Called the West Petpeswick project, the DC ground mount solar project adds to SolarBank’s plans to develop an additional 31 MW of community solar projects in Nova Scotia and to the province’s plans to commit to 80% renewable energy by 2030.

West Petpeswick is owned by AI Renewable. The energy generated will feed directly into the local grid and help renters, business and homeowners save money on electricity.

SolarBank has secured a site lease and will continue securing the necessary permits for the project, including a community solar project, interconnection approval, required permits and third-party financing arrangements.
