Venture Global notified the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on Feb. 24 that the LNG producer was ready to start up another train at its Plaquemines facility south of New Orleans.
According to the letter submitted to the FERC, the Plaquemines Liquefication Train System (LTS) Block 9 is ready for the introduction of gas and LNG. The introduction of LNG to a train is usually one of the last steps prior to production.
The FERC approved the introduction of hazardous fluids into Plaquemines Block 8 last month.
The final design for Plaquemines consists of 18 blocks, each with two trains. Each train has a design capacity of 0.63 million tons per year of LNG. The overall facility has FERC approval for 3.3 Bcf/d of natural gas.
Plaquemines LNG began production in November 2024 and sent its first cargo before the end of the year.
