Venture Global LNG Inc. on June 18 said Jonathan (Jack) Thayer, who has over 15 years of financial leadership experience, had joined the company as CFO.
Thayer previously served as CFO at Exelon Corp., a utility, power marketing and generation holding company, and Constellation Energy Group Inc., an integrated energy company with power generation, gas and electric distribution and energy management services.
Most recently, Thayer served as CFO at Woodward Inc., an independent designer, manufacturer and service provider of control system solutions and components for the aerospace and industrial markets, a position he assumed in October 2019. However, he ended up leaving Woodward in April after the company’s previous CFO decided to resume the position in response to the ongoing global economic challenges and uncertainties, according to a Woodward release citing the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a joint statement commenting on Thayer appointment, Venture Global co-CEOs Bob Pender and Mike Sabel said: “We are delighted to welcome Jack to our experienced leadership team. He has an outstanding record of accomplishment as chief financial officer at two Fortune 500 energy companies, and we are confident in his ability to lead the company’s finance organization as we grow our low-cost LNG business.”
Venture Global is currently constructing or developing two LNG export facilities in Louisiana.
The Venture Global Calcasieu Pass facility is under construction at the intersection of the Calcasieu Ship Channel and the Gulf of Mexico. On June 19, the company said begun installing the first equipment to liquefy natural gas at the facility located in Louisiana’s Cameron Parish.
Meanwhile, Venture Global said June 15 it had received approval from U.S. energy regulators to proceed with site preparation for its proposed Plaquemines LNG export plant located south of New Orleans on the Mississippi River.
