Operator Deep Gulf Energy Co., according to IHS Markit, has made a deepwater Miocene discovery on the Rampart Deep prospect in Mississippi Canyon Block 117. The #1 OCS G32299 hit approximately 130 net ft of liquids-rich gas pay in three zones. It was drilled to an unreported depth in the western half of the block and bottomed to the west in Block 116. Area water depth is 2,700 ft. The Rampart Deep prospect was initiated by Stone Energy Corp., but the company sold a portion of its interest as it emerged from bankruptcy protection. Current interest holders in the discovery include Stone (40%), Houston-based Deep Gulf (30%) and Ridgewood Energy Corp. (30%).
