Bumi Armada Berhad has been awarded contracts by Lukoil to supply three ice-class offshore support vessels (OSVs) for the operator’s Filanovsky field in the northern Caspian Sea.
Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft LLC awarded the contracts to Bumi Armada, with each covering a period of 10 years, with the possibility of further extensions of up to 20 years, according to a press release. The ice-class contracts have an estimated aggregate contract value of US $262 million for the fixed 10 years of charter with extensions of up to 20 years at an estimated aggregate value of $483 million if the options are fully exercised.
An interim contract of approximately $18 million also was signed for the provision of two support vessels and one rescue vessel to be delivered in November 2014 for deployment pending delivery of the purpose-built ice-class vessels.
This will be the first time Bumi has built ice-class vessels to complement its 50-vessel OSV fleet. The three newbuilds comprising two ice-class support vessels and an ice-class multipurpose duty-rescue vessel will start work in November 2015 to provide all year-round services such as delivery of cargo and personnel, salvage, search and rescue functions, fire-fighting operations, and towing and tanker mooring operations, added the release.
The two 5,280-brake-horsepower (bhp) support vessels will be 80 m (262 ft) in length, 16.5 m (54 ft) wide with a draft of 3.8 m (12.5 ft), diesel direct drive, ice class, Volga Don Canal compliant, and Fi-Fi 1 compliant and will have Class 2 dynamic positioning capability. They will each be able to accommodate 24 people on board.
The multipurpose duty-rescue vessel will be ice class, Volga Don Canal compliant, and Fi-Fi 1 compliant; measure 80 m in length and 16.5 m wide with a draft of 4.2 m (13.8 ft); and have about 6,000 bhp, diesel direct drive, and Class 2 dynamic positioning capability. This vessel will also have oil spill collection and storage facility and cabins for 24 people along with temporary accommodation for 125 rescued people.
