Comet Ridge’s Harrington 1 appraisal well intersected 19 m (62 ft) of net coal in Galilee Basin in Queensland, Australia, according to Comet Ridge. The well is in the northern part of ATP 1015P and has been cased and suspended after reaching a total depth of 1,042 m (3,419 ft).
The net coal encountered in the Harrington 1 well is consistent with other Comet Ridge wells in the eastern Galilee Basin, demonstrating coal continuity.
The Harrington 1 well was cored through the entire Betts Creek section. Gas was observed bubbling from the core as it was brought to surface, Comet Ridge said, and detailed laboratory analysis of the core will be conducted over the coming weeks to determine the key coal parameters.
