Endeavour International Corp., Houston, (Amex: END) reports Barry J. Galt, a member of the board of directors, died Aug. 22. Galt served as a director of the corporation since 2004 when Endeavour was first established as a North Seafocused E&P company.
Galt was the retired chairman and chief executive officer of Seagull Energy Corp., a diversified exploration and production company that merged with Ocean Energy Inc. in 1999. He served on the board of directors of the combined company until its acquisition by Devon Energy Corp. in April 2003. Prior to heading Seagull Energy, Galt was president and chief operating officer of The Williams Companies in Tulsa, Okla. He also served on the board of directors of Trinity Industries, Dynegy Inc., and Abraxas Petroleum Corp. He was active in many charitable organizations in both Houston and Tulsa, including the Salvation Army and United Way, and served as a trustee for Memorial Hospital and St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.
