Eni has performed a production test of Zohr 2X, the first appraisal well of the Zohr discovery offshore Egypt, delivering up to 44 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscf/d), Eni said in a news release.

During the test, 120 meters (m) of the reservoir were opened to production. Data collected and analyzed have proved that the well has a great production capacity, which is estimated in a deliverability of up to 250 MMScf/d in production configuration, Eni said.

The well is located in the Shorouk Block.

Plans for 2016 include drilling three more wells. The onshore gas treatment plant construction work has already started and the bids for the offshore activities launched and nearly completed, according to the release.

Eni, through International Egyptian Oil Co. (IEOC), holds 100% stake of Shorouk license. Operations are being conducted by Petrobel, which is a joint venture between IEOC and the state partner Egyptian General Petroleum Corp.
