The wells, located about 500 km east of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, were drilled by the Transocean Barents semisubmersible rig this summer in the Flemish Pass Basin. Equinor said Oct. 29 the wells “have proven the presence of hydrocarbons; however, it is too early to provide specific information on volumes.
The Cappahayden and Cambriol wells have water depths of about 1,000 m and 600 m, respectively.
Holding a 60% interest, Equinor serves as operator. The company said it has also drilled a top hole at the Sitka prospect as part of its 2020 exploration campaign.
